We are looking to buy our first home, we submitted a written offer for 255. After negotiating we verbally agreed on 269 Wednesday. We were waiting on the paperwork to resign confirming that price and have had other housing opportunities that make more sense made available to us since.

Since we haven't signed anything, but have verbally offered 269. Do we have any way to get out of this now?

you have tons of time to get out of this... especially at inspections

Sounds like this is a pretty standard offer, counter-offer scenario, you should be fine to just walk. They shouldn't have your earnest money yet, right?

Big Purchase for you. If you're having buyer's remorse already, Just Walk away. Nothing is final and even if it was signed, Inspection grace period gives you a chance to walk away clean.

Don't worry about whether or not the sellers are pissed. The had a written offer before but chose not to sign it. That is part of the risk that they took with a counter-offer.

I assume your original offer expired already. They are usually written to terminate if not accepted in a short time frame (day or two). But you should check anyway. Worst case they would argue about the right to accept your original offer and keep your earnest money. It wouldn't be worth their while to fight that battle.

I'd use those other house(s) as leverage if you want the house that you currently have an offer out on.

Might motivate them to come back to the negotiating table in your favor
