the issue to me is more not getting any return.
you are essentially waving a player you traded CP for.

It's not in houston's best interest to pull out.

Why not?
Math Even if you stretch Rivers you still have to trade Ajinca without taking anything back. If you can give away a guy that's been bounced out of the league once, you can give away a 21 year old that used to be the top HS recruit in the country.

Rivers will be better than gordon this season, would be dumb

They're on a deadline and if they can find another team to dump him, they do it. The pelicans will have to make a decision regardless.

I don't see the problem with that scenario.

They'll find another team. They have been working on this for like 3 weeks now.
I refuse to believe this is the plan. Lowe is just throwing dogshit at the wall.

How is that a viable strategy?
"Sure I'll take Rivers for free, but why should I give you my 2nd rounder for him?"

What other choice do they have if there's no interest in taking his salary? Either you want asik or we have to find another way before Houston pulls out.
Because, and maybe I'm wrong, but I find it hard to believe there isn't a team in the league who wouldn't give a 2017 2nd round pick for Austin Rivers. I'm not as high on him as some are on here, but the guy is in his 3rd year, and has 1 year/$2.5 mil left on his deal.
I don't necessarily think Lowe is making this up, but why is this the type of news that someone clsoe to the team would leak? That's what doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know. Timing for all their moves will be tricky. They will need NOLA to take Asik and someone else to take Lin before they sign Bosh, which is before they sign Parsons. If Demps isn't ready to complete the trade, why wouldn't they walk?
Likewise, if he can't complete it via 3 team, then stretch may be his only option.

You don't pull out of an agreed trade
I think this is a BS rumor tbh

It isn't. Lowe is making assumptions based on the numbers.

Rivers is terrible. i wouldnt care
Posted on 7/11/14 at 12:15 pm to LosLobos111
LOL. If the team can't make it happen, there's reason to pull out. There's a difference between a team who pulls out because they change their minds versus a team who can't get their sh** together.

He has to find a team to take Ajinca, stretching Rivers alone isn't enough. And that gets back to the original point, of how can there not be one team in the league that would see a package of Rivers and Ajinca as not worth a 2nd rounder.

Because they have until mid-day Sunday before Parsons's cap hit skyrockets. The only reason for Houston to be antsy would be if they were worried Bosh would change his mind and sign elsewhere. Pretty sure that the whole Asik trade plan was based on Ely's contract. Not sure what happens, but it happens at 12:01 AM on Sunday.

Would be bad, but is it worth missing out on Bosh/Parsons? Houston will wan to lock that up ASAP.

Lowe isn't a hack. His follow up to Fisher and McNamara was that they are considering it. Not that it's happening. LeBron has everyone reeling right now. Who knows what's happening.

I think bosh is pretty dead set on HOU imo

Exactly. I think it's just specualtion on Lowe's part, but it's the way he worded it. Maybe they are considering it, but I am sure it's Plan Z.
