Why do people outside of England care about that so much

This. England has not produced lately. Now if another generation like the class of 92 is coming in.. I'm all in.

It's not even so much English players, but youth squad players coming through.
I would much rather see Lawrence, Lingard, Wilson, Powell, and Januzaj come through and be the next stars then just buying a player like Luke Shaw.
Granted I know we havn't had much success lately in out youth squad.

Looks like we really need to make another CM signing to start the season with Carrick on the bench. Hopefully they put something together.

I gotta be honest, LvG as the new headmaster of Manchester United scares the shite outta me. He's going to be a force. I already miss Moyes at United.

Hopefully Fletch is healthy. I seem to be one of the very few, but I think Fletcher is very solid midfielder. He's not a world beater, but probably the best back up mid in the league. He would start on every team outside the top four.
The question is does LvG start Herrera, or does he move Jones up with Fletcher and risk playing Smalling in defense.

Ive always though Jones could be a quality CB if they'd just let him play there and stop moving him around (RB, DM)... maybe with those other two gone, he'll get his chance..

CB might be his best position, but I really like giving him free roam to run around in the defense and not having to tie him down to one area.

Much like a Rooney, but on defense.

I don't think that they sign Herrera and start someone over him. He'll start it's just a matter of where.

He has to start. How about a center back or two?

Evans and Smalling won't get ManU to the top 4.

Roster for the U.S. Tour. Let's all give thanks that England, Spain and Japan all didn't make the knockout stages.

Not that being the captain is really all that important, but it is kinda a slap in face to Rooney. If Rooney even cares.

RVP the new Captian

Having said that with RVP injury record, he will have plenty of time to be captain.

I don't know how I feel about RvP being captain. I think it should be Wazza and I do think he cares. I just hope this doesn't cause a riff by LvG showing favoritism...but like you said as much as RvP is injured Rooney will have plenty of time to wear the armband.

in other news...this would make me happy
