Denver nightlife/hotel advice?

Headed to Denver for a guy's trip at the end of July. Technically, I've been in Denver before, but have never really stayed there or done anything.
Will be landing at about 3:30pm and staying in Denver that night before heading to Aspen for the rest of the weekend.
Any suggestions for good dinner places, nightlife, and what area we should plan on finding a hotel in? Preferably, we'd like to be able to walk to and from the bars.
TIA

One of my friends manages PT's showclub (gentlemans club). Never been but looks like some talent based off of his fb page.

Any suggestions for good dinner places,
Root Down is worth a trip to LoDo like Salmon said. Great place.

I really enjoyed staying at the Curtis Hotel. Good value in a good area.

My job takes me to Denver a lot and we always stay at Tabletop Mountain Inn in Golden. Avoid having dinner at The Fort, it's an overpriced clip joint and you can get better food literally anywhere else, like the Keg, cheaper.

I'm also considering a trip to Denver.
Question, is there any dispensaries within walking distance of the downtown hotels?
