So Remy supposedly flying to Boston for his medical, and Lovren and Origi could be done soon. If we finish the window with these guys and Moreno, I would be pleased.

We may still look for another attacker, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the spending stop there. Not so sure about that big money signing we may have hoped for, except for the possibility of Isco.

I hope we close strong with Lovren, Origi, Remy, and Moreno. That said, I keep seeing links to Isco and Di Maria. Has anyone seen what our weekly wage sheet looks like compared to last season?

Considering our spending already and if we do get Lovren, Origi, and Remy, I'm not sure we'd be able to afford Di Maria, much less if we get a LB too. And like you said, that doesn't include our wages.

So Suarez's ~200k/wk and Alberto and Aspas's wages should be off. Bad thing is that if Reina stays, we take back on his ~100k/wk and all not including the new guys but none of them should be getting too high of wages I wouldnt expect. Nonetheless, we should still be over the wage bill from last year which is why I wouldn't be surprised to see us save the extra 10-15m from our transfer budget and the Suarez money to help cover wages.

Lovren, Origi, Remy, Moreno would be a dream. Anything in addition to those guys would be great, but I would have no problem if the spending stopped there.

I have to think of that as just pretty decent. Not great. And a slight disappointment. I know we're setting ourselves up with all these links to world class players, but the fact remains that we're short a world class player from last year, and in what we've brought in plus whats on that list above, only Moreno is a guaranteed "better than what we have" starter. Lovren is pretty likely, but all three main CBs we have have played at a high level at some point in their time at Liverpool, just not necessarily last year.

Just my opinion, but if we don't pull in someone world class (and only add the above), the window only hits on two important needs (back line additions and adding depth to the squad) while not hitting on the third - replace suarez with someone close enough. And I feel it also misses out on a big window where there is a lot of movement and some of the biggest fish are having to move world class players out.

I agree with your very last statement, there does seem to be quite a few exceptional players up for grabs.. It would be nice to get one in if the fit is right...

I like the squad being built and 3 of the players we brought in had very productive seasons in the EPL, goal wise, last season...

If our defense improves, we don't necessarily need to replace 31 goals... I have high hopes for Sakho/Lovren... Think they can be among the best..

Obviously, a lot depends on how well all the players settle...

My biggest question mark is how much we play Gerrard... Hopefully, BR has the stones to rotate him through out the season... I still want him playing the big matches, but I hope they both realize he needs a few breaks through out the season..

Stevie has officially retired from the national team... That should also help the wear and tear on him

Glad to see Stevie able to get some breaks over the international breaks. I have to think he will be spelled at times during the year but I guess how much will depend upon how good can or someone is at filling in.

Are we really paying more for Lovren than manu is for hummels? Geez. It's becoming apparent that champions league football isn't as important as being thought of as always being in champions league.

That's a shockingly low price for Hummels and good business for ManU... Though I don't think the gap in the two is that big, talent wise...

I think he's a terrific player, but his pace would be a concern in our high line, especially with Stevie as our holding mid..

Varane would have been my dream CB signing, but that is a pipe dream...

Edit: I'd obviously take him, he's a great player... And a no brainer at that price.. But I am more than happy with Lovren

I don't think Hummels' price is accurate. It would be stupid for Dortmund to let him go for that.

When is his contract up?

They still have 3 good CBs which made him expendable, but you would think they could have driven the price up

What is the criteria for the "Defence Score"? From this, it looks like Hummels is ahead of Lovren in just about every category, yet Lovren crushes him on overall "Defence Score."

Hell, Kolo Toure is better than Hummels accoring to this.

it looks like the image is cut off at the bottom, so there may be more metrics..

No clue about the scoring, and I think stats definitely can't be over analyzed in a sport like soccer for a number of reasons. That said I still think it's interesting to look at to kind of try and see what separates some of the better players from everyone else. With CB's, a lot of times it's positioning and errors which is a huge problem for us.

I really hope that price for Hummels is BS cause that's almost sickening.
