leauxgs and i were discussing our confidence earlier as well. hope we are all right.

i wouldn't put too much stock in the cavani rumors. no way they sell him with a banged up zlatan and no replacement available.

Yeah, if there's one defining theme to many of the crazy transfer rumors I see from England it's an unquestioned assumption that any club anywhere will sell any player to an EPL club if they want him regardless of how little sense it makes for the selling club.

Unless PSG has some other unknown target secretly in the works, I think they would be very unlikely to sell Cavani.

I asked this ages ago, but any interest in Bony... He'd score goals for you guys.. I know he's not a "sexy" transfer, but I'd argue he's even better than Giroud

I actually thought thats who we'd end up with... but all the Falcao and Cavani talk had us dreaming... and for better or worse, I guess we couldn't pass up MB at that price... but I think Bony would have been the safest one and would have scored goals..

bony has much better link up play and is a better goalscorer than balo. i'd much rather have bony, but rodgers has done alright so far betting on "potential", which balo has lived off of for years.

rumors circling we're going after cerci. isn't he a second striker/wide forward?

I wish we would just buy Bony and save me the anxiety over the next few days.

Yes. He was a Roma youth player and was loaned out for a while and then went to Fiorentina and finally to Torino where he had breakout seasons the past two years.

I have my reservations about Cerci though. Most Roma fans have followed him pretty closely, especially in the past 2 years since he'd come back to Roma if Roma pursued him and some of his attributes seem well suited to Garcia's 4-3-3.

I suppose my reservations hinge on the idea that he's not all that much better than when he was getting his chances at Roma and Fiorentina but that Torino plays the prefect system for him to shine.

He's very fast and very, very good in broken field counter attacking. However, with the Italian NT and Roma/Fiorentina he's not been impressive in "playing team ball" with better players around him. I don't mean due to attitude but simply that he tends to disappear when on a better side paying against a side that's keeping defenders back and the game turns to intricate build up play.

For example, his only really good match for Italy was against Spain when Italy played 3-5-2 and counter attacked by getting the ball out to Cerci who could usually get by Jordi Alba (who's not an exceptional defender IMO) into all the space Spain leaves in the back if you nick the ball or break their midfield pressure.

This was pretty much the exact tactics in which he excelled for Torino as well: very little defensive responsibility and playing for a side looking for a lightning quick counter but never really wanting to hold possession.

That said, he is excellent out in open space and not selfish in picking out great passes to runners on the counter.

I still think he's the type player that will be a star and a real pleasure to watch for a mid table counter attacking team but struggle on a really elite side. However, I also think elite squads overpay for a lot of attacking players that fit the same description every season.

I agree. Although I'm happy with most of our depth our injury history tells us it isn't enough to win a title with what we've got (currently healthy).

If Wenger plays Chamberlain in the middle and Ozil on the wing today I'm going to lose my fricking mind, Andy Bernard style

What's this about Roma trying to sell destro? Why the hell.

And I'd take him for sure

I feel like Ozil is being wasted out on the wing, he needs to move inside

Question: Is Gibbs hurt or has Monreal just been favored the last couple of games? Thanks

Out for a few weeks.

And that formation is just the guess. Managers don't publish formations just a list of starters.

First game I've gotten to watch live as an Arsenal fan. I have to say I'm excited. Shame about Giroud, though. I've read rumors that Arsenal isn't even going to buy another striker.

I'm no expert analyst, but I think Jack has played well so far in the first half. Not saying he's better suited there than Mesut.
