One could argue that it's an insurance policy and not an investment.

BINGO. I just like the parties, the prizes, and the stickers.

Eta: I do also really enjoy the seminars

17 year old me was talked out of registering by my dad who thought my grocery store baller salary would be stretched too thin by the entry, so he talked me out of entering. That weekend I caught a spec that would have won the youth division by over a pound that year. I enter every year because 17 year old me missed out on a 14' aluminum hull. I'll avenge that loss one day.

I'm here. Look, it takes money to raise money and to support a lobbying effort that many of will never see. Most of what CCA does, it cannot brag about lest they lose political clout. Like any lobbying effort, most is done behind the scenes. It takes work, sometimes compromise and always money.

The bottom line is that no organization can cater to the wants of everyone. Either you support them or you don't. It is an open organization in that anyone is invited to participate in any level you chose. Come to a meeting, ask questions. Work within the organization to bring up the issues you want to get heard.

That said, once CCA supports trout limit reductions in areas that do not need it without scientific proof, I'm out and everyone will know it. I'll eat crow pie.

It's basically a $50 insurance policy vs me catching a tagged redfish and never forgiving myself for not signing up.

That is my outlook as well. $50 per year to never want to jump off a bridge after losing out on a $35,000 prize

I don't know, my boat has won 15k over the last 8 years in STAR. Sorry you suck at fishing and can only catch hard heads on stink crickets and baby trout on DOAs. You actually are the fool in this one. The reds tagged are small and put in locations potlickers frequent. That should be right in your wheelhouse.

The info is pretty easy to locate:

LINK

I use that site to get tax returns for anyone I consider donating to. They pay their leadership well but I wouldn't say the numbers are over the top.
