I was talking about the '09 game being a bad matchup.

Lester is correct. Those teams had monsters on them.

Tierney had some serious arse talent at Shaw. Much more so than Ponchy. Ponchy should make a little noise this year though.

More physical Lester would have beat jay at own game....

All hyperbole and conjecture though.....

Bottom line over the years catholic league teams have had big trouble in NE la and nw la

Hanks 97 squad was one of best teams that didn't win state...

meh, would be close. Rummel didnt play with 19yr olds either. If they did it was usually on accident. Not held back for football reasons.

No one is denying that. ECA and WM had a stronghold on the whole state. Still hard to beat Catholic league football as a district during that time.

Neville and Ruston did their fare share of damage....too

Would you call the sec the best conference if they went 25 years without a title?

If you think parents at catholic schools don't hold back...

I can name names...but won't on here...

The 97 5A state game with WM went back and forth. I think the final score was like 22-19 and the game was won by WM in the last minute.

Shaw had some good talent on that team, the QB Joseph was pretty good and they had a good little WR named Terrelle Harris.

I've got the game tape somewhere stored in my stack of junk.

"recruit" kids... sure.... hold them back, nah. Maybe a parent's M.O. here and there, but not Rummel

Ronald Bellamy too. He played at Michigan.

Torri Taulli OL played a Tulane, so did daniel nevil.

Cameron Vaughn's bro was a good LB. Lee Rodgers was a badass DB

Shyrone returned kicks I think.

ryan clark graduated the year before if i recall.

Yes, it looked like WM was pretty much out-matched that game.

Coach Shows was poor-mouthing all week before the game in the news. WM was pretty loaded too but on paper, Shaw had the better team.

Shy played some tb too...

Lee Rodgers was a solid safety... Greg brooks too

Untimely turnovers...and shows calling his kids number on a bomb right before half time turned game...

i played a year under keiser and finished the rest of my years under bairnsfather at shaw.
both good coaches but coahc kaiser was a players coach

coach scott--ehh not so much. couldnt stand him during my time. but the guy could win games and he knew what it took to build a winnning program
from 05-10 shaw could compete and beat almost any team in the state.

with that being said-- coach hank tierney is the most under rated coach in lhsaa history. the man can take credit for everthing coach roth and bairnsfather know. home run hire imo and a great guy

Interesting. Songy returns to Carrolton and Banks after nearly 20 years.

I know Songy spent time at both Brother Martin and Jesuit.

Does anyone know where he was before this recent hiring?
