I honestly would 100% be in favor of using my tax dollars to pay for free birth control if it meant abortion would be outlawed and made a felony manslaughter.

How would others feel?

I disagree. I have no issues with either one, but I would like to see this program passed along with legislation stopping welfare increases after two children.

As long as we're not counting the Morning After pill etc as "abortion" then sure

I could get behind that. If the mom's life is at risk would be an exception for me. I would consider it self defense. It wouldn't be hard to get a doctor's opinion and a 2nd in this case.

Yep, except in cases of the mother's life being in jeopardy then it should fall under self defense like someone else said.

It would cost the taxpayer less than paying for abortion/long term support.

i don't feel strongly enough about shhbubortion to care... I do think I would actually feel like I'm actually getting a return on investment if the irs were to tell me my tax dollars were being spent on birth control and showed me some numbers that teen pregnancy rates had been nearly cut in half....... But to add a little more to the thread that may not be pertinent but I'll never ever be caught voting one way or another because of me agreeing or not agreeing with a candidate's stance on shhbubortion or not

If I found a "doctor" and made a plan to pay him to kill a born person - we are both guilty of conspiracy to commit 1st degree murder - and if we follow through with the plan - both the doctor and I would be guilty of 1st degree murder. He would probably get a plea deal to testify against me, though.

On the other hand - you are suggesting that the premeditated murder of the unborn should be reduced to manslaughter right off. Why? Do you value the life of an unborn person less than that of a born person? What if a doctor and woman conspire to abort a fetus but never follow through with it? Let em slide?

BTW - who do you think should get the harsher of the sentences, the doctor - or the woman?

I think making abortion illegal is a stupid idea.

I'll go one step further. I'll support tax dollars paying for 100% of the healthcare and adoption costs for children born to mothers that dont want them.
