This sounds good in principle, but would be a complete disaster in reality. Without objective state/government standards, the education system would fall apart.

That doesn't mean I think the current public system is in anyway adequate.

maybe it would but why can't school boards take care of that? Each civil parish/county has a school board who makes decisions for each school in that area. Why does the state or even federal government have to make standards when school boards can easily do it. Maybe leaving it up to each school is to much but having the State determine everything is also to much.
