..that wouldn't solve the problem. If the Weekly Golf Thread stayed on topic, even though it would still include a bunch of IM'ing (which is a TD violation), the Admins would be fine with it.
However, most of the threads don't have much golf discussion with extremely excessive IM'ing.
It's why a good bit of TD golfers steer clear of it.

Fred I will do my best to keep the golf talk down the middle of the fairway. There are a lot of great posters there that deserve to have a golf thread.

Pretty much agree
Some of the IM's are golf related dealing with people setting up times to play with other posters, etc.
Most of the jokes and other crap aren't even remotely funny
