What's going on? Are they taking the bait? What size hooks? Are you using a depth finder or a pole to find holes? Post a pic of your lines.

Regular Ivory soap. Works well on my noodles up here on the upper Amite.

How deep are your hooks? I have used all different types of bait. Worms have been working well as of late. I use them on rod and reel during the winter on bottom back home on the tchefuncte and absolutely tear them up. Forget livers, they dont stay on worth a shite. Hearts, cut bait and worms are the best imo.

Something's taking the bait, not sure what though. There was a big ole gar jawbone stuck in my main line today. One line is in about 4.5 feet of water and the other is 7. Measured with a depth finder.

IS 7 feet the deepest it gets? I would roll along watching he depth finder and look for deep holes. 4 feet in a river is not where I'd set.

Live small crawfish or small bream. That's all my dad ever used on his trot lines in the MS River. Catfish love those baits. Bait shrimp if you can't get eithe of those.

Update:

I moved both lines, one is under a bridge which I presume is a good spot, about 11 feet of water. The other is in 8 feet.

I've tried every bait I can think of, still, every time I show up my hooks are clean but no fish. I even tried yeh monn catfish bait which is like shoe leather and they still pulled it off. Also put a couple jug lines in deeper spots and they also got picked clean. So depressing. Don't know of any good creeks to net crawfish out of.

I don't know man.

Do you have your stagings tied onto swivels? If not catfish will twist them up all up and get off once there is no more play left in the line.

Indytiger, some moral support: learning to do some hunting/fishing activity by yourself is incredibly difficult. The guys that do this successfully probably don't want to put their secret info on the internet because hunting and fishing resources are limited and can get overused very easily. If I had to guess, time of year and water level probably have far more to do with catching catfish than bait. If you're figuring it out for yourself, you're going to have to accept some strikeouts before you figure out what the hell you're doing. If you want to be successful, don't give up. You've done half the work already.

Is it possible somebody is running your line? I caught someone years ago running mine in the Tickfaw.

Yea man someone may be running your lines. Catfish aren't that picky when its comes to bait. You should at least be catching a few. If you have time I would suggest getting you a buddy or two together and a case or two of beer and try putting out some noodles or jugs. Use different baits and put them in different areas and see what the fish are liking. Make ya up about 30 or so and bait them groups with sat worms, shrimp, cut bait and hot dogs.
