I've been on a all things WW2 kick lately and not sure why I have never gotten around to watching either of these, which one should I watch first?

TIA

Pacific first so you don't compare it to Band of Brothers and judge it by itself.

BoB v. Pacific Thread

BoB is the far superior show. Pacific is great, though, and I agree with BloodSweat&Beers, watch the Pacific first, then watch the greatest show ever produced for Television.

Read the previous thread about it.

It is extremely unfair to compare the two shows.

The Pacific is great on it's own but BoB makes it seem shitty because the source material (European front, following one outfit, the book it was based on) is plainly far superior. It's just not fair..so stop it.

I would watch Pacific first. You might be let down if you do it the other way around...

Something I would highly recommend would be to read the book "With the Old breed" by Eugene Sledge before watching the Pacific. It's the guy that the Pacific focuses on a lot and what te series is based off of.

I watched the Pacific and then read the book and then watched it again and I felt it made the series 10x better.

BoB still the best though IMO

Watch "The Pacific" first so you won't be disappointing by it after seeing Band of Brothers. "Band of Brothers" was one of the single greatest scripted programs to ever premiere on television.

Band of Brothers is infinitely better. So if you're going to watch both, watching The Pacific first is great advice.

You should watch The Pacific first because Band of Brothers blows it away.

Bump, since out of curiosity I looked & HBO had The Pacific on demand. I already knew every episode of BoB.

The watch Pacific 1st advice is right. If you compare based on depth & number of characters you connect with, no contest. The overall scope was different, too, as the series spent more time in America, love interests & family. They were clearly not trying to use the same template.

What the Pacific did very well, in pretty unflinching detail, was portray the greusome, brutal conditions soldiers faced in the island hopping campaign. It was hard to watch at times, but I give them credit for not holding much back, and not trying to copy & paste BoB.
