You all are out of your mind for saying golf. During the best months of the year, you're spending Thursday-Sunday competing all day long in the most frustrating game invented.
You're the top athlete in the world, not a person scrapping for food money on a mini-tour.
Phil played 21 events last year. So he has 31 weekends free each year. Not a bad deal.

you're the top kicker in the NFL, so you'll make most of your game winners and 50+ yard bombs.
You're the top kicker in the NFL, just like you're the top golfer on the PGA (or in the world). You'll make most cuts, and win a ton of tournaments.

".....not sure I'd call the top golfer a great athlete."
Which makes golf all the greater. You don't necessarily have to be a great "athlete" yet people that have played the sport even once and realize how incredibly difficult it is are in awe of your talent and skill level. Just like an elite NBA athlete, you are doing something at a skill level that millions of people could only dream of. You also do it without the relentless long drawn non-stop season that MLB, NBA, and NFL players endure.
P.S. I also think the extracurricular activities and lifestyle of especially NBA and NFL players are filled with way more landmines than golf. There are tons of predatory gold digging groupies trying to trap and blackmail money out of NBA and NFL players. The women going after pro golfers are classier in general and often just as attractive as the NBA and NFL groupies.

Soccer for sure.
These guys are world-wide celebrities. They have interest from the hottest women all over Europe and South America. No contest.
Gareth Bale has the life. He's from Wales, so he's already loved by all women, including American ones. And he plays for Real Madrid in Spain. Dude has it made.

If I wanted attention/celebrity, I'd probably go Soccer or Basketball. Really can't decide which one...

15 year career. 2.5 million per year. No long term injuries. Yeah, I'd take that job.
its not a bad thought, and obviously better than 99.9% of jobs out there, but this can't be your #1 choice. top athletes in other sports can potentially make double that in a year(including endorsements). your family would be set for generations.

Which one has the best combination of "lots of money" and "not going to be a vegetable at 45?"
the answer is pretty much anything besides the nfl. the only argument for an nfl position would be qb, if you have a huge ego and desire to be worshipped like a hero(montana, brady, elway, etc). golf guys make a ton of loot for doing nothing, but they aren't exactly worshipped the way an nfl qb is.

No doubt golf.
Tiger Woods has made more than a Billion and is 13 years younger that MJ. Shoot... Tiger made $115 Million in 2008 and only played in 6 tournaments.

Golf. People talking about long careers, there's a simple choice; walk around on fresh cut greens and have someone else carry your bags. Look at the money Tiger has made.
