Wife and I were discussing last night after a couple of bottles of wine. I think I've shifted from the GOP but I def don't call myself a liberal. Here are my main stances

Don't care about gays marrying
Don't care if pot is legal
Want tough immigration policies
Don't think rich should be taxed more
Hate the idea of Robin Hood- tax rich more and give to poor
Feel you should be drug tested for any government assistance
Anti abortion

Why do you have to belong to a party?

You're still republican. You've probably just become more moderate

A few questions..

Would you vote against or for gay couples marrying and pot being legalized?

You sound like a Republican in a thin Libertarian veil (no offense)

I have been thinking the same thing. I'm registered as Independent. I registered as that as an 18 year old because my extremely far right-wing mother kept pushing for me to register republican. It was a good way, in my mind, for 18 year old me to rebel against her trying to tell me who to vote for.

I still say I'm conservative, but moderate conservative. Honestly, there aren't many politicians that don't annoy the hell out of me. I don't think I full agree with either side.

Eta: And I would vote yes for gay marriage. My brother is gay and that has, honestly, changed my views over time. And I'm tired of hearing them bitch. Yes for pot too, esp for medical reasons.

I agree with all of the above except the drug testing.

I once called myself a Republican. Now? Yes. I still vote Republican but that is far less a reflection of my love for Republicans as it is a disdain for Democratic economic/regulatory policies.

Frankly. There are times when I wish we were parliamentary where we had like 10 parties and one would be a lot more like what I agree with across the board.

I share most of your views and I'm a Pub but in local elections I vote for the best/most qualified candidate.
