Not negative. Just want someone to kinda explain how the 3 of them on the floor at the same time would work.

I love Ryan. I just think he's gotta go for the betterment of the team. If Monty can make them work, well I won't be mad at that either.

You just play matchups. Most teams in the league don't have a legit 5 that AD needs help guarding, so Anderson probably finishes most games. If they do have a 5 we have to account for, Asik finishes instead.

No reason why Anderson has to go. You just have to be smart with which guys you put in.

Anderson going has more to do with attempting to get a SF who is worth a shite, than going because he has a problem fitting with Asik and Davis IMO.

Should we defend the low post, stretch the floor, and have our best player out there? Yes dude. Why is that even a question?

Also to assume and even say that Ryan can't play SF is dumb. The league is very clearly shifting away from traditional positions. Traditional positions are for novices learning about the game, not NBA fanatics and obsessives like us. Guys who can play multiple positions are the norm. Super big/Small ball lineups are a thing now. To say NOLA can't trot out a massive lineup of Jrue-Reke-Anderson-Davis-Asik to finish games is ill conceived. They can hide Anderson, and just because everybody's talents aren't maximized in that situation doesn't mean it's bad or impossible or whatever other doomsday phrase you like to overexaggerate with. That lineup has 4 good defenders and 1 average defender. It can still work. The NBA is not a perfect league.

Plus, you shouldn't be worried about our Pels guarding anybody, everybody else should be worried about guarding our Pels.

I think it will depend on the team the Pels are playing and the circumstances. Creating match ups. I don't think it's necessarily a huge issue.

They cant play together but this year, it doesn't matter. Anderson will likely be on some sort of minutes restriction, at least to start the year. Their combined salaries are ~$22M. They don't have to play together to get value from their cap space.

Going forward, I expect Anderson to be moved. If they resign Asik to about $10M next summer and with Davis due a big jump in salary in 2016, moving an expiring Anderson for other pieces makes sense.

Anderson becomes a 6 or 7 off the bench.

He gives the ability to stretch the floor. It's an awesome asset to have when AD or Asik need a break. Everyone thinks we are going to trade Ryno or at least try too. If we can't move him it's not a bad thing IMO.

has anyone run the numbers yet to see what kind of situation we will be in if/when we re-sign asik, have to pay AD max money and get rid of EG and likely ryno? with the salaries of max AD, reke, jrue and asik how much we gonna have available to fill out the rest of the squad if they remain intact?

Gordon falls off of the books before the Pels re-sign Davis. Only Tyreke (10m) and Holiday (11m) and Rivers (4m qualifying offer) are on the books the season that Davis would get his new contract. Add about 10m for Asik. And that would be ~31m on the books before the Pels make a decision on Rivers and re-sign Davis.

ETA: Davis' extension will probably put him at ~20m. That looks like ~51m on the books for 4 players. With the cap probably sitting around 70ish (this a guess based upon the upward trend of the cap).

I was assuming rivers was going to be gone soon to pay for asik this year.

Really not bad at all, Holiday and Tyreke would be in the last year of their contracts, Asik would probably have 2-3 years left depending on the contract the Pels would sign him to (3 or 4 years).

The Pels would have a lot of flexibility, unless they sign other players to long contracts in the next two seasons (probably a SF).

We'll also probably keep russ smith because he'll cost less than a mil.

Withey/Ajinca possibly as well.

I wasn't including cap holds and the like, only players that were currently signed or would obviously be re-signed (Asik). But yea, there would probably be a decent amount of that ~19m taken up by smaller contracts of bench players and a starting level SF.
