I swear, we could trade Brian Roberts for LeBron, and people would still bitch...

Why can we not make a single move that I like?

Did you just go look at his stats real quick and come to that conclusion?

he's expensive due to his draft slot for what he brings. its water under the bridge now that he was our lottery pick, time to cut bait. of the 3 (gordon/anderson/rivers) he is the most fungible asset. gordon and anderson will be harder to move due to salary/health concerns

Rivers for nothing = Asik for 2015 + Rivers. Sours the deal slightly on a player that seems to be getting better. There IS a reason that he's an actual tradeable asset, even if it's for peanuts.

If Green + 14/18 for Anderson is a real possibility, I don't think you can call Anderson hard to move.

Trading Rivers for a TPE would be a bit of a fail. And I wouldn't be able to go to RealGM or Reddit without all the posts about how stupid our FO is for trading 4 lottery picks for Asik and Holiday.

Where would Anderson, Davis, and Asik rank in the league as a big man rotation if the Pelicans could retain them all?

Agreed. Like someone else pointed out, Anderon's bet two attibutes are 3 point shooting and rebounding. Asik has rebounding covered, and Green would give us 3 point shooting. I get that he's a fan favorite, and is really good at his role, but he's a luxury we can't afford at this point with a glaring need at SF, and acuqring Asik.

yes he can drive, yes he can defend the perimeter, but he cant shoot, he cant finish, and he cant make free throws

He was top 10 in catch in shoot 3 percentage

He looked much better at finishing

Your only valid concern is that he can't shoot FTs but he improved by 10 percent in an offseason.

That's what I'm asking. I saw it was mentioned like a page or 2 back but it was simply "rumors" at this point.

No one knows the guy's source, but he's a poster at Pelicans Report that definitely has inside info. He posted about Ryno having a herniated disk the day before news broke, said that we were targeting Asik/Hawes a few weeks ago, and made some other calls.

With regards to this trade:

This would allow us to keep the MLE if we go this route, but it would involve getting rid of all of our cheap depth.

Ely is gone, Miller and Babbit are easily replaced, and if you have Asik and keep Jason Smith, one of Ajinca and Withey were never going to play anyway. Rivers and the #10 pick he represents would be the main loss. If you could somehow get Boston's #17 in exchange for him I'd call it a good deal.

I'm trying to think of better.

ZBo-Gasol...but while Gasol is better than Asik, Davis will be better than ZBo. And they don't have a 3rd as good as Ryno.

After that in terms of 3 deep Frontcourt...

Love/Pek? (for now)

Duncan/Splitter/Diaw looked pretty good winning the championship. And that's actually kind of the mold the Pelicans big 3 would be in, although I'm not sure I want Ryno guarding LeBron much

So of non guaranteed contracts the only somewhat big loss would be Rivers. If Loomis works his magic an the roster is this:

Holiday
Gordon
Evans
Davis
Anderson
Asik
MLE
Rivers

That would be impressive.

If the Pels ship off Rivers and non guaranteed contracts, and keep Ryno, do they still have the MLE to sign a SF?

Still no one to play the 3.
