I second that Craig, anybody have insight on the final for ACCT 701 (Ambrosio)?

I'm taking a gamble that it is largely comprised of questions pulled from previous quizzes.

Thanks for any direction

Congrats DD, quite the achievement.
Thanks! I appreciate it. I'm sure I'll continue popping in here once in a while to offer advice where I can, but the program is changing so frequently I know my knowledge of who to take and what to watch out for is expiring by the week.

Is the overall grade based on assignment (paper work), weekly quizzes and test ? Can you get all these informations on moodle for every course ? I would appreciate if you could email me (sernt2018@yahoo.com) pdf of the textbook and other course related information.
I'm sorry, sernt18, but 760 was one of the courses I barely saved anything for. You were graded on the items mentioned, but you also had a weekly group assignment and a final group assignment as well. The group thing was meeting with your group each week over webcam, recording a small portion of the meeting, and submitting discussion questions on a Powerpoint slide deck that you worked on as a team. I was dreading it going into the course, but actually ended up with a great group and really enjoyed meeting and discussing with them each week. It was one of my favorite courses of the program.

The final group project was a business canvas where you offered strategic suggestions for whatever company you studied during the class. Ours was on Apple, though Meeks changes it up every couple of sessions to keep it relevant. They covered U-Haul instead when a co-worker of mine took the class, which he said was more interesting than you might expect. Hope that helps. (If you want a head start, pick up the "Playing to Win" book and begin reading it.)

Well, I YOLO'd the exam, and I'm 1 point under an A for the class (unless he really does give the 2 pts he said he would after the fact), but I did bomb the exam. So, I'll be doing the discussion question, but I think I can get by with a less than stellar effort to pick up a single point.

Second that. The text is quick and easy to read, everything is in weekly videos, and it's a lot more about putting in the work to do the writing and group work than any pre-reading outside "Playing to Win".

DD, congrats!

Also, from what people have said about Meeks almost unanimously being the favorite teacher and class... I kind of wish I could take it. But at the same time, it would be a real problem for me and also difficult for my potential group due to the fact that my time zone is about 12 hours off from everyone else's.

So McLaughlin it is for me. Her class seems set up pretty similar to MKT 705, which was enjoyable, even though it was still quite a bit of work.

Good luck in your next adventure, DD.

Not a reply, but doesn't anyone have any input on the 500 level courses?

My undergrad wasn't in business, so I'm a little concerned about the basics like terminology.

I'm currently a manager dealing with P&L and such with an undergrad in ChE. Does anyone think it's worth it? A waste of time/money?

Is there a forum (other than TigerDroppings) for students/classes?

I start on 10/22 and I don't have a clue what to do or where to be or when. Panic is starting to override anxiety. Books?

Any and all help welcomed. I am enrolled in HCAD750 and ISDS705

I really would not waste the time. A bit extra on the reading part and you will be fine, especially if you have the math background for a ChE degree. MBAs are broad, but not deep, so they are designed to give people with different business backgrounds an effective business management skillset. The vast majority of finance math is Algebra 1 material from a mathematical complexity perspective. My daughter's HS Stats class is about the same depth as the stats we do here. This is much more about concepts and application, which is part of the course material.

Great, thanks for the input.

My 4th post and I already have a downvote.

Just make sure your Moodle account works and start logging in a week before class starts and check daily for the prof to start populating info. Everything will be laid out for you there.

Anyone else in MKT 701 feeling burned out?

YES. I was going to read the textbook again before the exam but have decided to hell with it. Its been a boring, disjointed class. Maybe its Senior-itis - two more classes for me and I'm done.

I have read way too much of this thread, but I haven't seen this question. Anyone have an opinion on the 3 easiest electives?

I was considering MADM 710 with Kungu if available next year.

Any other suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks, socal77! I appreciate that. Thank you, as well. I know I've relied on some of your posts in the past on what courses to take and with who.

nogoodjr, imo ISDS 702 (Quantitative Methods in Business) with Dr. Koksal is one of the best courses in the program and it's not that difficult, though I wouldn't call it "easy" unless you already have some experience with statistics. He has weekly lectures that walk through how to do everything he requires in the weekly assignments step by step and he also holds weekly webcam meetings so you can ask him questions. His exams are also extremely fair and focus on broad concepts rather than reworking what you already did on the assignments.

I've also heard really good things about MADM 751 (Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity) with Meeks, though I didn't get a chance to take it myself.

Thanks for the reply DieDaily. I enjoyed Meeks in my previous class, so 751 might be the right choice.

thanks

I took Meeks 751 in Summer AP2 it is structured identical to his 760 class minus the weekly test. It is not as interesting of a class to me, but that may be because I liked strategic management so much. Easy A if you do the work. I would recommend 751 as an elective.

@DD Congrats!

@VinylTiger this thread is actually on a very active "Money Talk" board on TD. I think a lot of the down votes come from people sick of the thread popping to the top.

Regarding the 500 series classes. Most every class has a review of basic concepts and nothing is particularly difficult.

@nogoodjr I really enjoyed 751 with Meeks. I enjoyed it more than his strategy class, but they are in very similar formats.
