Fruit trees can be good attractant for bow season, but pears and persimmon are usually wiped out by gun season.
I'd wait and plant in the fall. You could plant clover or soybean now if you wanted.
id put the mineral out now for sure. It helps with total herd health. A lot of people put it out strictly for antler development, but it's big for doe health, especially when nursing and during pregnancy. I'd make it a point to keep your mineral sites replenished year round.

Ok so is the best bet to do as previously posted and mix the minerals in the dirt? How about the mineral blocks? In my experience they don't get hit as hard at all, but last a very long time.

Just get cheap protein feeders and feed the pellets

I have 3 300 pound gravity feeder and one spin feeder just need to feel them. I'll probably do half corn and have protein or soybeans.

How can I get in touch with them if theres no residence on the properties?

Ask the sheriff or go pull the tax records at the courthouse.

I might give it a try, thanks. So ya'll think it's worth feeding protein in only 113 acres?

So, just my 2 cents. Don't be too discouraged by the lack of camera pictures this time of year. There is plenty for them to eat this time of year so they don't have to hit the corn or licks. They will eventually show up. If you have that many hard woods I would start scouting your way in and out to the stand areas. I hunt about 130 acres and one problem can be if you move in and out too much or in an inconsistent pattern you'll push all of the deer out. Identify the bedding areas and stay clear of those. Do your best to find ways into the edges of the property and find the sweetest acorns around the hard woods. I don't think feeding protein is a bad idea but those deer may move out of your area during the prime season. If you're going to do that I would try and lease some of the surrounding land also if possible. One last thing. For 113 acres I would probably make it bow hunt only until late in the season. I've found that once a shot is fired the deer patterns change fast and that might push some of the big bucks off your land. I think you will find there is a true rut in your area compared to south Louisiana. If you have does you'll have bucks.

Dont be discouraged.. it is the first of july, and hot! If you have alot of does and babies, know what that means.... someone is breeding or gona be lookn to breed! They will come. Last year i started hunting a new 100 acre piece. Put a nice plot in, put corn, set up a camera in september, and checked that dam thing for the next months and i swear all i had was one spike and tons of does and babies! The all of a sudden the rut kicked in.. and let me tell ya, i had bucks comin out the wood works! I 8 different bucks i hadnt saw all year on camera. 3 of which were 9-10 point shooters! Then even after rut had ended in late jan i had 3 more bucks show up that hadnt been there all year! You will be fine, keep the food supply and keep the does.. they will be there

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too. I know the deer don't have to move a ton this time of year with as much vegetation as their is. It is also so hot. I'm looking forward to doing the plots and seeing how much that helps. I know this being the first year hunting it that it might be a little tough.

Find some honeysuckle plants. Disk them in along edges to find bushes to climb. Deer can not resist honeysuckle.

Dude, that is badass. Super jealous.

Disk them in on the edges of food plots or are you saying on the steep bottom?

Thanks man I'm excited, I hope it's as good of hunting as it looks like it should be.
