I read an article the other day about getting rid of signing day, so kids could sign as soon as they were offered. This would end the decommits and the bs by schools.

Any idea where he ranks for us on the de position in order of "want"?

They talked to me and told me I'm their No. 1 guy at defensive end," Bates told Taylor Hamm of 247Sports. If he doesn't take it, then [the offer] is still good to both of us after that."

this is why they are the worse defense in the league and almost worst in the ncaa

I understand the new hot team on the block. Are they really that hot though? You have perhaps the best player in college football and constant love from the media and still lose 4 games? This season will tell it all.

It's not a hard sell. They'll been a mainstay on ESPN because of JFF, have been competitive, yet can still tell guys that every spot on the defense is wide open. Some people disagree, but nearly every time a prospect is looking hard at a program you think they shouldn't, it's because they're being sold on the depth chart.

Bates told me A&M wanted him to commit. If he didn't, the offer was going to their next target. Therefore, since he didn't commit, his offer is not longer on the table at this time. However, that doesn't mean he won't have another opportunity to commit at a later time.

This is totally reasonable.

This happens all the time. I do not agree with it, but it goes on for sure!

Jalen Bates
Kid's got a motor, plays aggressive to be his size (he's not 6'4" 240). Highlights
Jalen, please attend LSU's next elite camp.

the kid is every bit of 6'3.prob closer to 6'4.he seems to be a little lighter looking to me.probably 230 to 235.The great thing about this kid is he scored a 20 on his act.He does have a high motor and a wingspan of a 6'8 dude

James Lockhart is the #1 DE for A&M (Ennis, tx) and seemed like a done deal, then Bama offered and it APPEARS it actually is commitable (who knows)
So then the coaches decided to make a one time only offer to Bates and he didn't jump as most thought he would.....this one has been weird... The plan is to take ONE DE

And we would have lost 6 w/o him mudminnow....any Aggie with a brain knew '13 would be tuff b/c of losing 6 Sr starters and 1 jr early, (5 on NFL rosters) with little depth and having to play true fish on D. The '12 D was solid, '13 D was horrble.

'14 is a bldg year, need to
Keep momentum and the D talent and depth will be close to LSU and Bama levels soon with the way we're recruiting.

You have to actually develop that talent. Top 5 recruiting classes doesn't put you on LSU and Bama Levels.

Of course you gave to develop talent... When we have it across the board again.. We'll see.
Like I said, we had good veteran talent in '12 Snyder , Price etc got them to play MUCH better than the previous regime... So I am optimistic

The D will be better than anyone thinks IMO. Just watch. By the same token the Offense will fall off a bit and I expect more turnovers especially on special teams. Ags will be dangerous.

Might have already picked him up in the plano kid. Not many (if any) elite DE's in TX or LA this cycle IMHO.

They could decrease their yards per game by 70 yards (which is EXTREMELY good, doesn't happen often) and STILL be bottom 3 in the SEC.

They were that bad

They just lost 2 of their better defensive starters. I guess they couldn't get much worse but to say better is questionable as they have seemingly gotten worse each year
