If you have a windows pc your xbox can act as an extender to control OTA signals (with a guide and dvr capabilities). I don't have extenders but with Plex I can still watch network tv faster than HULU (hour or two for a one hour show max) for free. I've actually considered buying a used xbox for this purpose only.

Also, even though you're not interested, I still need to look at it some more but I'm intrigued by Nintendo Tvii.

Not necessarily true. I'm considering the WiiU at some point as well. However, the PS and Xbox having a BluRay player would allow me to move our current BluRay player to our bedroom TV. It has Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and other streaming apps on it.

After the E3 announcements I spent a lot of time researching the WiiU for gaming. It would be a good system for most of my needs, but the lack of BluRay may make me hold off for a while.
