Do you understand what IF means? Had Oklahoma State not lost LSU and Alabama would have never played and no one would have known that we would look so bad against them. Had we beaten OSU we would have gone down as an undefeated national champion that beat an insane number of ranked teams. Its a hypotheitcal situation. Get up to speed.

It's a hypothetical situation based on the assumed premise LSU would definitely have lost to Bama in the NC that year.

Which is a concession they were better than us.

This isn't rocket science.

No.

But, outside of Alabama, I wouldn't trade our success with anyone in the country's success over the last 8-10 years.

I've noticed that HailHailtoMichigan! posts a good bit of unrealistically positive stuff about LSU on the Rant. He could be trolling, or it could be a Les Miles-Michigan connection that has him talking up Miles/LSU.

But yeah, right now, LSU is definitely behind Alabama.

I'm surprised the pumpers haven't ruined this thread yet.

I think we are getting close to being in the silver age. Football has a shot to correct this. It is clear to most people our program is behind bama.

Baseball and the parity excuse is weak. People said you wouldn't see a team snap off a run like bama did in football the last few years because this isn't the 70's well they did snap off a run. So I see no reason why baseball can't do the same.

We are not even two years removed from a 57 win season.

I'll just say that we'll remain a title contender if we can lock down this recruiting class and keep dunn on board. if the class falls through I'll agree with you to a certain extent

You act like Bama barely squeaked out a win in the NC that year. We lost by three touchdowns, scored zero points, and never crossed the 50. Bama was just BETTER that year - even teams don't get curb stomped that badly when it matters.

I mean we did beat them AT THEIR PLACE in a game that was "the game of the century for all the marbles!!!11!1!!"

We played awful on offense on 1/9. No excuses for that game. However I still dont believe that Bama was far and away better that year because I can point to a similar pressured game where they had the home field advantage and lost.

IMO it was a huge psychological blow for the team to have the whole season build up to one winner take all game hyped in all reality more than the NC game (the NBA was in lockout and there was a ticker on ESPN for two weeks) , they go out there lay it all on the line and then 3 weeks later they get told-it doesnt matter do it again.

Anyways. Football is as good as its ever been. NC contender year in year out.

Baseball Maineiri has won some regular season games but failed in the post season. Unfortunately for him college baseball and college basketball are sports (unlike CFB) where the regular season means crap if you cant win in their respective tournaments.

Who gives a shite.

I know some people love baseball, but going to LSU in the mid to late 90's, I was more excited about independence bowl victories than baseball NC's. Dinardo and Kevin Faulk were a Godsend in those days. Anyone bitching now should endure a year of Curley Hallman football.

BS! They were better prepared for that game then we were. It showed and they won. It doesn't mean they had the better team. That LSU team has a right to question whether BAMA was better than them given that, you know, they beat them at their place earlier in the year.

As a matter of fact THAT team beat the national champion, the PAC 12 champion, Big East champion and were the SEC champion themselves.

As an LSU fan you're not just being a homer if you have the stones to look at a resume like that and say frick BAMA!!!

LSU football is easily on par with alabama football. I am sick of this meme that LSU football is somehow inferior to Alabama football. It's unsubstantiated, negatiger horse shite.

We've lost 3 in a row, 2 were not even close in the end.

The programs are very similar, but they've a notch ahead. Hate yo admit. We can't beat them and they don't lose to shite teams like Ole Miss and Clemson. We need to beat them to get back.

FWIW 2011 mulligan should never have happened.

Umm

You just said "if we could have dodged alabama, we would have not gotten stomped by the obviously better alabama team, and therefore been better than alabama"

So LSU is the best team when they don't play better teams.

Nice Rant Logic

You act like it didnt take a second chance for alabama to beat us. We didnt dodge them. We beat them during the season. I dont think people realize how hard it is to beat a team twice in one season....especially one coached by Nick Saban.

You are a known rantard. But going by the system that was in place bama should not have been given the rematch. Its pretty simple. We beat them and won the sec. The next most deserving team were the big 12 champs. I don't even know what u are getting at, the silver age? I could still argue the LSU football program is the the best its ever been. It sure is in the worth of it. And it is a business. Now baseball can make a case, but again its not like we won all those world series before most of us were born. We are still one of the premier programs in baseball. I don't really see that ever changing.

So just cus we didn't win a natty this year doesn't mean our programs are falling off. Because with that logic fsu and UCLA would currently be the premier programs in college football and baseball. Every one else is looking up.

Just looking back over the last decade, final four, bcs champs, cws champs. I only see one program that can match us in all sports over the last decade and its UF.

We will see how great Bama is with no qb this year . I watched their spring game and none impressed I'm predicting a 9-3 season for them at best and ended last year with 2 straight losses. As far as LSU being on par with them I say the gap closes this year for Bama. We were never in a golden age so IDK where that came from football is consistently good not great. Cam Cameron may be the key to us becoming great

well the power of the SEC kinda made a perfect storm for a team to do this. All a team needed to do was get through their division and they would win the NC. There are only a hand full of games that if they would have went the other way LSU would be sitting on 2 or 3 more NC and it would have been LSUs run. cards just didnt fall that way.
