And I'm relatively new to soccer but holy hell, they look fast and aggressive even without CR7

I know this isn't new news but they will be a tough match up.

Do you guys think we can keep up with their speed?

They aren't just one player. They're very good. And idk, guess we'll see? Do you want us to answer with no? We'll find out in roughly 2 weeks

We'll have the athleticism to not get run off the field. We don't have their technical ability though. It'll come down to composure and tactics

Not impressed with either team tonight so far.

I agree here. Portugal has created a few scoring opps but nothing great and their D is very suspect.

They definitely look a little out of sync but you can see that Portugal is super fast.

I was just wondering if most think we can keep up with their speed. They seem to be able to push the ball super quick and sometimes the US seems to play a little slower.

Hopefully the US can keep the game at a steady pace

same here, I'm watching this game wondering if they're saving themselves for the WC. I think Portugal is missing 4 starters though...

Portugal has had a couple of really bad giveaways near their goal. They're good and with CR7 on the field, they're at another level, but they're not unbeatable.

Portugal is better than us without CR7 but not by a staggering amount. I'd certainly rather a Portugal sans Ronaldo than I would France or even England.

Yes, athleticism isn't the issue with the USA. Ronaldo's inclusion changes that, but we aren't going to be outrun by many teams in this World Cup.

Mexico has been the better team in that first half. Portugal without Ronaldo is about our level.

They may have some players with better technical ability, but I think we're more athletic.

I'm hoping for a post Champions League lull at the World Cup for Pepe/Coentrao. If Ronaldo is healthy, he will bring it for sure. But I feel like the other 2 are both fully capable of perhaps not being all the way engaged.

I have no basis for this.

The main thing Portugal don't have without Ronaldo is a goalscorer.

Portugal's defense looks like Swiss cheese.

I have't kept tabs on the sweet pea much but apparently the 10 field players out right now are the 10 who will start against Cameroon. Is Hernandez really not a first choice striker for them anymore?

I have no idea what Alves can even argue there.

I've lost count of how many giveaways Rafa has committed.

I wasn't too impressed with Germany's earlier today either.
