Samsung TV going on and off when trying to start - FIXED

I've got an older Samsung 52" TV (about 6 years old) downstairs and the past few days it has begun to cycle on/off when you go to turn it on the first time. Does this quite a few times before it finally turns on.
Have any of you experienced this before? If so is it worth fixing, or should I just wait until it goes compeletly out and get a 90" TV. I'll suffer with the 60" upstairs until then.

Depends on the type of TV. I had a DLP that this this and needed to replace the lamp.

Had same problem
Easy fix.
Check your model for possible defect fix from samsung.
Depends on year.

Hello my friend. Looks like it maybe time to replace some Bulging Capacitors. Get the make and model of tv then you should be able to get a kit of about 5 for like 15 bucks off of amazon. You can do it yourself following on youtube. Takes about 20 minutes. Need a soldering iron & tiny amount of flux.I changed mine out on my samsung a year ago(5 year old tv).Probably same model as yours. The tv turns right on after replaced. My wife doubted it would work after i changed them out. hell i doubted myself to but turned right on . Spent about 40 bucks total tv hasnt had a problem since.

If it is making a clicking sound it should be a relatively cheap and easy fix. This was a common problem with Samsung TVs from around 2007ish.
I was still at LSU back in 2010 when my boss at my student job wanted me to help him toss his 42" Samsung in the dumpster. Being the cheap arse I was at the time, I asked if I could just have it and he gave it to me.
Don't bring it in and spend $200 on repairs. It is a capacitor issue. I think I spent a total of under $10 for the new capacitor including shipping and handling. I googled everything and fixed it myself. No prior experience necessary. Pull the busted capacitor out and put the new one in using a soldering iron.
TV is still in my bedroom today working perfectly.

It's the capacitor issue, as mentioned. Mine is doing the same thing. Tried to convince my wife to let me open it up and fix it but she insists we bring it to someone.
Samsung has admitted to the problem and supposedly they will cover costs for repair but I haven't contacted them yet

My capacitors were fixed as part of a class action settlement.

I had this problem on a Samsung and called them about it. Turns out it was widespread on certain models and they sent someone to fix it. Might be worth a call.

I replaced the capacitors in mine a couple years ago. no problems since. Easy fix and you do have to solder. just be careful not to touch the hot board section. you tube has how to videos on replacing these. The capacitors are under a dollar each at radio shack. I replaced all of them.
Good luck.
Good luck.
