Turnovers are nearly as important as scoring plays. To ignore them because they are "one stat" isn't far off from ignoring TDs because they are "one stat." In both years the offense was amazing and the defense was vulnerable more often than one would like. But in 2009, the turnovers won games even when the vulnerability of the scheme was shown; the most important example being NFCCG. Do we really think that we get to the Super Bowl past that Vikings offense with the 2011 defense on that field not making turnovers? And on the flip side, is there much doubt that the 2009 would be able to get a key turnover or two off of the 2011 49ers? Perhaps getting an INT off of Alex Smith in the 4th?

2011 Saints, won games with offense.
2009 Saints, won games with offense and with turnovers. Give me the 2009 Saints as the better team.
