To be fair, Stockholm Syndrome is a real thing.

I hate this "deal" and the way it went down.

I think this dude is either a deserter or, at minimum, a nut that cracked.

But, any emotion on the video is not compelling or indicative of either of the things I mentioned above.

It's like an episode of," Homeland!"

I thought he looked scared. Then, when they zoom in over the Taliban guy's shoulder as they're talking, you see a small smile, he nods his head & wipes a tear and the Taliban guy pats his shoulder.

I won't speculate bc I have no idea how is act in that situation. I'd likely do anything I had to in order to survive. And the exchange itself would be scary bc it could go to hell at any moment and he would be shot in the head. Regardless of where his sympathies lie, he's got to be scared crapless right there.

Also, did they shave his head or did he do so to appear not to have converted to Islam when he returned home? Strange that his appearance is less disturbing than his father's in these circumstances.

He only thinks he's sad now. He's going to know, or should know, real sadness going forward with the remainder of his life.

Ever heard of the phrase "innocent until proven guilty"?

Apparently not.
