How did you get an MDX for that cheap?? Used? I put out 32 for the wife's 2014 Tech RDX in December.

Yep. New vehicles lose 20% of their value the day it is driven off the lot.... So essentially 20% is thrown away on Day 1. We always buy used.... And we put alot of miles on vehicles.

I bought a 2009 Acura MDX with 90k miles on it in 2011 for $19k for my wife (has 109k on it now) Before that, a 2007 Z71 Tahoe in 2009 for her with 51k miles for $20,500. I am driving the tahoe now, it has 206k miles on it. I put 265k on an Acura MDX, 245k on a Toyota, and 235k on an Avalon.

I do, however, understand that we are in the minority by buying used, paying cash, and getting almost all of the life out of a vehicle.

My 2011 had 75K miles. I bought it with 28K miles last January. I don't like to keep vehicles more than 80K because they lose value much quicker after that. I get paid mileage that more than pays for my fuel, note and insurance so I like to think of it as they are buying me a new truck.

Bought my truck new with 1 mile on it. 08 Dodge ram Quad Cab Laramie 4X4

31.5 out the door. Sticker was 44

5 years and 50k miles later (deployments keeping down mileage) It's worth 23-24k still.

8k for 5 years of use seems like it'd rival any used car purchase along with increased maintenance fees

I would, but the wife and I both can get vehicles through our corporations and expense it out and depreciate. Can only get that on new vehicles. Works out for us in the long run due to tax bracket. Of course a paid for vehicle is the best. I drive a '08 btw. On the other hand, she always has a new one and keeps her "old" ones.

I just curious but where are y'all going with that many miles? Not just in one vehicle but multiple?
