Lebron is close to passing Magic. If the argument is talent alone, there is no question, but with players like this it's not just about talent alone.
Lebron is the better scorer. There is no debate about that. He's a better defender by a good margin. He is a good passer, but he's not close to what Magic was. Magic is the greatest PG of all time - no one had the vision or the ability to make the plays that he did, and he did it at 6'9.
If you could choose between the two in their prime, I think the majority would pick Lebron but it would be a lot closer than you would think. Magic was a great player, an excellent leader and IMO he was more competitive than Lebron. Lebron has really stepped up as a leader the last two years and ultimately I think that's what will get him there. Personally I do not think he will ever catch Jordan because he was the perfect storm of talent, skill, work ethic and competitive drive, but if anyone does get their it will be Lebron.
That's a great post.

Lebron is freaking 6'8 and he's listed at 250 but I'm more then sure he's 260-270. He's he perfect blend of power strength and athleticism. How are you gonna sit here and say he wouldn't dominate the 80's and 90's if anything lebron is perfectly built to withstand that exact timeframe.

Huh? Did LeBron win DPOY and I didn't see it? You know there are players who have won MVP and DPOY, right?

lol Michael is the GOAT but lebron will be GOAT B.
1a Michael
1b Lebron
I strongly believe if you put Lebron on the Chicago Bulls instead of Jordan and Pippen morphs into a 6'5 SG (lol) they still win the same amount of titles. Possibly, even more because the Jordan Rules wouldn't work on Lebron (Too Big and strong to push around).

It's not about his talent. Obv he would be fine there. How would he react to Ewing, Mason, Oakley ect hacking the hell out of him and trying to get in his head? Big difference between that and Lance Stephonson talking trash.

I haven't missed many Heat games over the past 4 years and in my opinion, the one thing LeBron does better than anything is pass the ball. I am dead serious. He isn't as good a ball handler in the open courts as Magic but his vision is just as good as is the zip on his passes.

The fact remains there has never been a player with that size and strength that could defend all 5 positions on the court as effectively as LeBron.
Name a previous DPOY that is capable of guarding David West, Paul George and Lance Stephenson all in the same game.

LeBron gets mauled regularly. Tackled by Hinrich. Forearm smash to the throat by McRoberts. Horsecollared by Teletovic. Broken nose by Ibaka, His response to those recent incidents was to get off the floor and win an NBA championship.

Pippen

What years was he DPOY?
....yeah, that's what I thought

Rodman
Great post defender and rebounder but not even close to Lebron's versatility.

Right before that you were saying there's never been a guy who can guard all 5 positions like Lebron.
First, that's stupid. Lebron can guard 4 positions but he's not going to be matched up against a guy like Shaq or even Tim Duncan. They would own him.
In today's NBA where there are more smaller PFs you could say Lebron can guard 4 positions. Pippen could do the same. But I guess since Pippen didn't win DPOY he's not in the same class as Lebron, who has never won it either

Are YOU saying that Rodman could defend Lance Stephenson? YIKES! I doubt he would ever be asked to cover a perimeter player like George. Rodman didn't leasd the league in rebounding by defending perimeter players.

Of course LeBron can't guard 7-foot centers for 48 minutes but he does it on occasion when he needs to and because of his strength he is more effective guarding the 4 and 5 then Pippen in the post. He's more effective defending the 1 as well. Playing with true centers, Rodman and Jordan, Pippen was never really needed to defend those positions.
