How can you justify saying Magic>Lebron?

How can you say Magic is a better player than Lebron? Yes, he has more titles (Lebron isn't done yet). Titles are a bad way to judge a player to begin with, but this board fails to understand that concept. I also understand that magic, up to now, has had the better career on paper. But what makes a prime Magic Johnson a better basketball player than a prime Lebron James? Lebron is like a bigger, faster, more improved version of Magic. I understand arguments for other guys over LBJ like Kareem, Wilt, etc. because they were vastly different players. Lebron and Magic are very similar and thus very easy to compare. Lebron is a MUCH better scorer and defender. Magic is a slightly better passer. Honestly, not sure about rebounding.
Plus, didn't Magic admit that Lebron is a better player than he was?

Because nostalgia is more fun than reality?

I've seen it said multiple times on this board. There's also a too five players thread on the first page here, with more people saying it. Feel free to look if you don't believe me

It's a tired argument. The old guard of the MJ/magic/bird era have dug their heels in, and no player will ever surpass their collective nostalgia. Right now, they use the rings argument bc it's in their favor. If they need to in the future, they will say rings don't matter bc it no longer supports their argument. It's always the same thing, and it's played out.
I wish the MJ/magic/bird jock sniffers would just go away. Back to their assisted living facility where everything in the good ole days was better and these young whippersnappers stay off their nonexistent lawn.

Lebron is close to passing Magic. If the argument is talent alone, there is no question, but with players like this it's not just about talent alone.
Lebron is the better scorer. There is no debate about that. He's a better defender by a good margin. He is a good passer, but he's not close to what Magic was. Magic is the greatest PG of all time - no one had the vision or the ability to make the plays that he did, and he did it at 6'9.
If you could choose between the two in their prime, I think the majority would pick Lebron but it would be a lot closer than you would think. Magic was a great player, an excellent leader and IMO he was more competitive than Lebron. Lebron has really stepped up as a leader the last two years and ultimately I think that's what will get him there. Personally I do not think he will ever catch Jordan because he was the perfect storm of talent, skill, work ethic and competitive drive, but if anyone does get their it will be Lebron.
