make it seem like there could be more to it than simply Donovan not being the best option.
I get that. I'm just admitting that I will assume the best, for now. I could be totally wrong and this is an ego trip, or it could be that JK is doing what he genuinely thinks is best for the team.
I will believe the latter. I refuse to watch a World Cup pessimistically.

There's been a lot of talk about how good Donovan was in the Gold Cup last summer.
I think we can all agree he still looked to "have it" then.
So what happened between then and now?
He is undoubtedly out of shape? Why?
He is undoubtedly in poor form with the Galaxy? Why?
He made a lot of comments about not being able to practice hard everyday? Why did he say that to the media?
Why didn't he go on loan somewhere in the offseason to maintain his form and compete at a higher level?
It all adds up to Landon himself not acting like he wants to be a part of this team.
I am not at all convinced that Landon wouldn't have scored or assisted a couple of goals at the World Cup, but I know that Landon could have done some things in the last 6 months to show that he wanted to be there, and he didn't do those things.

I said this same thing to a buddy in a discussion about the omission this morning. If I am going to enjoy the games this summer, I have to have faith that every decision is in the best interest of the US winning. So I have to believe that it is due to Landon not bringing enough to the team to include him. I do this because I do not want to end up like half of LSU football fans who think that Miles picks players for stupid non football issues and are miserable during the season.
