Why would a team prefer to play a 7 game series against the best basketball player of all time?

Spurs would love to get the Pacers.

Pacers are a team that will rarely score 100 points. Spurs will take that matchup every single time.

Question for you:

T/F If OKC wants to win this series, they have to ride with Perkins, Collison, Adams

The only argument I could make for the Spurs wanting to play the Heat is revenge. They probably want a shot at redemption after last year's game 6.

That's how I see it.

From a "best chance to win" standpoint, they want the Pacers. But pride and a chance to return the favor probably does make the Heat quite appealing to them.

the actual spurs players might want the heat. as a competitor, you always want the chance at the best, and especially a team that beat you in the previous year.

If it happens, many conspiracy theorists, myself included, will have to take a good look in the mirror and rethink it

Better than most, but not good, as no one does.

Lebron, along with any elite scorer, can never be contained by 1 guy. It's a team effort to slow these guys down.

There's the two-time champions, know the spotlight, have great chemistry together, and have gone to 3 straight championships. Not as deep, but their 3 stars and supporting cast are great players and veteran saavy.

Then, there's the bi-polar deep team. They've lost like they were milwaukee and dominated like they were the champions. They have a top 5 SF, a top 5 C (when he wants to be at least), and a VERY underrated SG.

I'm going with the bi polar deep team. Just purely because you know you're in for at least 2 free wins because of their bi-polar attitude through the playoffs. They have great players, but champions are typically consistent, not up and down every series

Not giving up on OKC, but what say you about the question?

I would say "true". Pacers may be the only elite team in the NBA that are as deep as the Spurs. They're also very good defensively at all positions.

Spurs matchup better with Heat IMO.

Definitely an interesting question. Not all that easy to say "NO", gibe me the Pacers instead

beyond basketball, the Heat have better team leadership and would not be easily shaken after getting down in the series or late in games(see last year).

I could see the Pacers collapsing at anytime due to infighting.

I want the Pacers. Because I like the Pacers and have wanted a Spurs/Indy Finals since I was a kid watching David Robinson and Reggie Miller.

Plus it would be kinda cool to see SA play George Hill on the big stage for all the marbles.

That said, both SA and Indy have their work cut out for them to get to the Finals even though they're up 1-0.

No lead is safe against OKC.

Don't ever count out a defending champion.

I think West could be just as big a factor.

They'd never come out and say it, and in the end you'd still probably rather play Indiana due to their inconsistencies and the fact that they have no Lebron.

However, at their peak, Indiana would be a very tough matchup for San Antonio.

False.

You're being silly lately.

Would it be more satisfying for them to beat the Heat, and avenge last year's loss? Maybe so.

But they would work the Pacers.

Agree, but Hibbert is a Duncan understudy, and I'll bet Ole Man Riverwalk has a few aces up his sleeve for Roy if they meet.

I trust Kawhi defensively against anything Stephenson can dish out if he gets going (although Leonard would most likely be checking Paul George).

Parker vs. George Hill would be fascinating, though.
