me either, it is a ball.

Serious question, I am an idiot regarding softball. Why did Torina leave the pitcher I sooooo long. Obviously she didn't have it, why would she not pull her in favor of the girl who pitched yesterday? I admittedly don't know softball strategy, but seemed obvious she was getting hammered out there.

softball doesn't have the restrictions on pitchers that baseball does

LSU used 2 pitchers yesterday... Corbello and Salmen

then Corbello pitched game 1 today... then Salmen started game 2 but ran into trouble so Corbello came back in

the biggest issue was LSU's other top pitcher, Czechner, getting suspended for violation of team rules... her suspension left Torina and the LSU pitching staff in a bad spot

Corbello and Czechner probably win this regional

ETA: Corbello ended up pitching somewhere around 450-500 pitches this weekend in Tucson

I don't know the details, because I am just not that familiar with the team members...but I do know that they were short on pitching because one of the top pitchers didn't make the trip due to violation of team rules...another was hammered pretty hard and pulled out early tonight...that only left the girl that pitched most of this game...

Did no one who just posted watch any of the game or look at any stats? The girl who pitched yesterday (Selman) gave up 5 runs in less than two innings today. Why go back to her after Corbello when she clearly didn't have it either? That would be silly.

Also, for what it's worth, Jaquish our catcher just favorited my tweets about people rooting for ULL next week being stupid as hell and that we should be rooting for Arizona.

If the LSU girls themselves feel that way, that's how it should be. No reason to be pissed about anything AZ did if the LSU girls don't give a shite.

If they want to be rivals in softball, that's fine by me. But they are no "rival" of LSU's in any other sport.

Yes, I'm pretty sure you are wrong. Corbello would have the same numbers she has now no matter if she played in the Sunbelt, the WAC or any other conference. It is what it is. And you are in for a rude awakening. Both programs are legit.

The LSU softball team have nothing to hang their heads about. They gave it their all and played with a lot of heart. The only one who should hang their head is the pitcher who did not make the trip due to violating team rules. She let her team down and with another pitcher the outcome of this regional may very well have been different.

I don't think rival is a proper term. LSU softball is not up to UL's level, but they are getting there. UL baseball is getting stronger every year, but is not on LSU's level when it comes to reloading every year. UL has to build back up and it usually takes 4-5 years to get a legit competitive team. However, I will say this, all of Louisiana college baseball owes everything to Skip. He believed in in-state competition and it made everyone better.

And for football, there is no comparison, but I still wish that LSU would play the Cajuns in football every other year or so. For the same reason Skip played inner-state schools, it just brings out the best in all. And UL is slowly building a football program over here.

That's a nice sentiment. But the cold, hard truth is that Skip did it for purely political reasons. It gives the in-state cupcake a $500 thousand payday and makes it easier for LSU to persuade the local yokel legislators to approve appropriations for LSU in the state budget.

I was proud of the Tiger ladies and their great season. Great future for softball at LSU.

I just wonder, though, what kind of final tournament game it would have been had the game not been played in "thin air." Perhaps I am speaking "ignorantly," but maybe Arizona should go into the Southeast and play tournaments.
