2.7% less.

I like losing my hair, I can't wait to have a sick comb over. I'm 40, so I out haired damn near everyone of my relatives.

Ah, I remember you saying it was less, thought it was 5 percent less.
That's kind of a slap in the face IMO. Unless the new job is typically lower paying than your current.

Try to find out what that position normally pays. Find out all of the benefits that they offer.
When negotiating a salary, make damn sure you know how much insurance is going to cost at the new gig. I left my old job to get a new one last year and got a pay raise but quickly found out that insurance was much more than what I was paying at my old job and would be taking a big pay hit. I was upfront with my new boss and told him that my salary needed to be adjusted accordingly and he was ok with it.

Insurance is most definitely one of the points that can make or break a new salary. But then what do you do if your position is so unique that you can't find any online information about the salary?

Ask for more by selling him on why you are worth more. Don't just ask for more money. Show him why you are worth it.

I told him yesterday that originally my idea was that I was taking two positions, one senior and one Jr at different locations (both traveling for me since I'm not at either). They are wanting me to do project work at another facility and basically develop a program for a huge company, way outside of the two positions of work I'd be doing for them. He basically has work overflowing and asked if I could start Tuesday. Told me think about it over night, and said he'd call today. I don't think I'm willing to walk out on my current company like that, I need to give them at least a week just to get things sorted, and my projects assigned with all of the background work.
I haven't brought up salary...but today is likely the day. "Can we talk about my salary..."
