I see it all the time in movies and on television but I don't think I know anybody it has happened to in real life.

How about someone objecting during the "speak now or forever hold your peace" part of the ceremony?

Define "at the altar." Do you literally mean like the scenes in the movies or would two days before the wedding count?

Because I've seen that happen before and it was awkward as hell.

I know someone who got cold feet the day of the wedding in the Cayman Islands. The next day they were out in the water on jet skis. One of the groomsmen lost control of the jet ski, ran over the groom and killed him. Wouldn't have happened if the wedding had happened because he would have been off with his new wife on another side of the island.

One of the saddest stories I had ever heard

I know a girl that banged her grooms best man the night of their reception dinner. She told the future husband it was a 'girls night' but then her friends called him asking where she was. Blew up in her face and he called it off that next morning a few hours before the ceremony. Dumb slut

My ex brother in law wished he would have been. She corrected the minister during vows when it got to "obey" then on the way home from the wedding asked for an annulment. She locked herself in a room for a couple of days, then disappeared. He got the annulment.

I don't know what kind of weddings you go to but this doesn't really exist anymore.

It wasn't at the alter, but my sister's fiance cancelled a wedding that they had put all sorts of deposits on, around $10,000.

My wife told me that as she was walking down the aisle she started getting nervous and contemplated turning around.

It might have been because I couldn't take my eyes off her bridesmaids breasts popping out of her gown.

FWIW: 14 years of marriage this may.
