Mullet Toss or college roommate's wedding

When Sara Landry was recruiting friends to go to the Flora-Bama's 30th annual Interstate Mullet Toss with her this weekend, she wasn't about to take any excuses, least of all from herself.

"I told everybody, 'I'm missing my college roommate's wedding for this,'" Landry said. "No excuses, you need to be there."

While the former roommate was likely less enthusiastic about Landry's decision (Landry said she texted but still hasn't heard back from the bride-to-be), plenty of people happily jumped on the caravan from south Louisiana to the beach at the Flora-Bama.

Landry traveled with a group of about 40 Louisianans, ranging in age from mid-20s to old enough to have children in their mid-20s. The group's no-excuses mantra extended to a woman named Morgan, had fashioned plastic bags over a walking boot she wore due to a months-old foot sprain. The mindset extended to Steve Yarborough, the ringleader who began organizing the trips. Yarborough was at the first Mullet Toss in 1985 and has been to every one since.
