How has Fear not come in here and yelled at you for pointing this out yet?

I believe you, we don't need to get into this argument...
(Not necessarily SPOILERS but discussion about how the show is currently below)
Honestly the ease with how they kill/exorsize demons now is one of the things that bugs me. It used to be a HUGE deal when they came across demons, and exorcizing them was a giant struggle and extremely difficult.
Now they can pretty much capture them in any randomly placed Devils trap, and they can exorcize them in seconds with little difficulty

I guess so, it seems like if I were a hunter the first thing I would do is memorize all of those exorcizing rituals, I just don't know why it took them so long to do that.
And having it on your phone seems like a no brainer that also took them a long time to figure out.
I guess they really were clueless when they got started

Well remember the episode where they ran into the whore(biblical version) in the apocalypse season? She taught everyone really short exorcism spells. Maybe they remember them.

First watch? You think it's been good so far? You know nothing Qwerty.
Well I just finished season 8. The character dynamics continue to be great, particularly Sam and dean. It's unfortunate that the best side character, bobby, is gone. There certainly have been some great, offbeat episodes as well that have kept me laughing.
The mythology and plot development of the show has jumped the shark several times already, but the ending to season 8 really bothered me. Am I really to think that they would pass on the chance to close the gates of hell after all that has happened?
It was good to see the prophet use a little creativity in weaponry, which Sam and dean lack. The super soaker filled with holy water or cleaning products should be a no brainer. There's so much more they could do though to make their lives easier. Just offhand they could fill a short hose or hula hoop with salt to stand in or put around innocents, so a light breeze wouldn't blow the salt away. They could keep exorcism spells on recordings on their phone. They could have thought of the devils trap handcuffs long ago. The bullet with a devils trap, also a good idea. And speaking of bullets, why did he not at least ask Sam colt how he makes the gun and ammo when given the chance? And why in the world did they not take mjolnir with them?

Supernatural is in the same genre as Stallone movies. Genre name: GreatestEverThinkingUnnecessary

It would break the show. Shouldn't have been introduced in the first place.

It would have been fine if thor or somebody else had taken it. But to just have them leave it behind was just Sam and dean going out of their way to make things as difficult and complicated as possible for the sake of plot development, as per usual.

Evidence that the show, as you said, has jumped the shark. Even the brothers' relationship aspect, which holds the show together, has gotten tired. I still watch it, but it's background noise more than must see TV.
