Pretty sure he's been playing in the outfield for awhile now

Thanks so much for posting this. I follow him his whole career, but from afar. Please post any updates on any former Tigers. No one else here is consistently posting these updates.

The Mets just traded away Ike Davis to make Lucas Duda an every day player. They've got exactly what they want at first base right now.

I'm a little surprised by the home run totals after 15-20 games. I would have thought Mahtook would have a few and Rhymes, the singles machine, wouldn't have any.

Mikie Mahtook 0

Raph Rhymes 2

Mason Katz 3

Matt Clark 4

Jacoby Jones 1

Ryan Schimpf 4

Austin Nola 0

Austin Nola wasn't really a homerun threat either, but yes, I would have thought Mahtook would have a few dingers

May be picking hairs but he really needs to cut down his K/BB ratio. 20/7 is bad.

Katz and Eades appear to be struggling. Raph has pretty decent numbers.

I hope Schimpf get a shot at the show. One of my all time favorite Tigers!

He went on an 11-11 run a week ago. That helps. But like I said then, he's much more likely to be traded for pitching with who the rays have in the OF.

I highly doubt the Rays view Dejesus as a long term answer in left. Joyce sucks in the field and Sean Rodriguez/Logan Forsythe can't hit their weight. The Rays would have to be stupid to trade Mahtook. I still don't think Mahtook will be a star, but he will certainly be as serviceable as their other options.

I don't get why Matt Clark played in Japan for '13, especially after posting a .360 OBP and 20+ HRS in AAA. You think somebody could've used that bat in the bigs last year. He is most likely a AAAA player, but you figure somebody would at least give him a chance.

The money for a guy like him in Japan is better than it would be to stay in AAA and maybe get a cup of coffee in the league. Plus more consistency and a cool experience.

It's not for everyone, and maybe that's why he came back after only one year.

But he wasn't forced to Japan, he picked that and then the Giants (I think) helped facilitate it.

Katz is on pace to strike out like 200 times this season, maybe more I don't remember the exact number.

because Japan pays people like Andruw Jones $4 million/year to play

I want to know what else Matt Clark has to do to get called up

he's raked at every level AND in Japan for a year.

then he comes back and the Mets put him in AA and he keeps bashing

BRING THE MAN UP

I am most shocked at that, followed by Ochinko being higher up in the Blue Jays farm system than Schimpf. I thought Schimpf had a better shot at making it, but it seems like Ochinko has been a little better. His current status of "Suspended # of Days" had me though.

Yeah... Schimpf at age 26 and still in AA doesn't bode well either. Him playing 3b blocks him also. Even if Lawrie gets hurt they put Baptiste there at times.

He's got a good line with the opening 15 games though; :320 avg 4hr's.

I don't get this statement at all.

1) Duda is a mediocre player at best. He's had a negative WAR in virtually every season in the big leagues.
2) Duda is not a power hitter, and now they have him playing at a power hitting position
3) You said they traded away Ike Davis to get him into the lineup ... That is just L O L at its finest.
