And if they don't want a burial (probably the majority of cases) they would....

I think most people could reason that not all waste has to be disposed of by generating heat.

So you have no problem with the waste being burned, you just have a problem if there is energy generated and captured from it? ( Sorry onmymedicalgrind I'm trying to go slower)

So incineration is bad but high presure steam cooking is ok? Wow.

Well it is more expensive which is exactly what is needed The waste will still be incinerated, it just won't be in a way that makes delicate flowers like you wilt. Congrats on nothing.

I say the amount of BTUs from burning a fetus is negligible. It might be a net loss. Chunking aborted babies into a furnace makes me think of Dachau.

i agree on one level (i mean, once you accept that abortion is ok, then what difference does this make)

but i think this is one of those, "waitaminnit"-type indicators that offends the sensibilities. and should.

i have a problem with Oregon actually shipping in dead babies specifically for this use. what's a dead baby going for these days?

this isn't being done at some hospital as medical waste...they're being shipped in and burned at a power facility

WRONG!!

That is the misconception. They are NOT "burning the tissue for energy". They are using energy to burn the tissue. They do NOT start the fire and keep adding tissue to keep it burning (like logs on a campfire).

The get a fire going, keep adding GAS to it to burn the tissue.

Think of the campfire...if you keep adding steak to the fire...does the fire keep burning? NO. You have to keep adding logs in order to be able to cook the steak.

Actually he's right and you're wrong. The way that these work is that the wastes are combusted in boilers. Inside the boiler it's like a big pit of burning campfire with all kinds of paper, furniture, and other combustible material. The heat generated from the combustion of this material is used to heat steam which is then used to both supply steam to another facility (nearly all of these are cogeneration facilities) and to generate power from a steam turbine. The local utility then is required by law to buy the power that is generated.

Natural gas is a supplemental fuel because the heats of combustions of these materials all over the place.
