Looking for a basic single axle 5x12 wood floor with steel drop down gate utility trailer to haul my mower, 4 wheeler, etc. Looking for something better quality than the one's at Lowe's but I don't really want to drop 2 grand on it. Where's a good place to go look that has get decent quality and a good price within 60 miles or so of BR? I don't really have time to drive to every place that sells trailers in S. Louisiana to price shop. Thanks!

My uncle has a 16' I can borrow if I ever need to haul something that big. I'd like to stay 12' so I can pull it with my Wrangler instead of my truck if I ever want to. I've pulled a borrowed 12' with the Jeep before and it did fine.
I'm going to try to make it to Mike Gerald's tomorrow and see what they have. Any experience with Herb's?

Mike Geralds or City Trailer in Port Allen. You can call, they will give you a price over the phone. Add a spare tire and if possible extra angle on the gate running perpindicular.

Get one 6ft wide instead if 5. You'll be glad you did.
ETA: get a dovetail trailer.

Mike Gerald's is good place to look. We've used them to repair boat trailers several times over the past 10 years. They do good work.
But an even better place to buy a utility trailer is Cross Manufacturing in Prairieville. We've bought 6 or 7 trailers for ATV's and UTV's from them over the past 5 years. They are honorable folks who do excellent work.
p.s. Cross Mfg. will build a trailer to any size you want.

My four wheeler rides on a ProPull trailer I got from Central Hitch and Equip on Airline. It's 7 years old now and still in great shape, has been out in weather whole time. 5 x 8 was $810 at the time, full size wheels, etc.
Has worked for me

Update: Picked up my trailer Thursday. After looking around Baton Rouge, I ended up going with Mike Gerald's on Airline. They seemed to have the best quality for the price and they had great customer service. They've also been there forever and are one of the few that work on trailers if I ever have any problems. I paid $1489 out the door. This was for a 5x12 square tube top rail and 15"tires ($1149) spare tire ($100) permanent plate ($70) and the rest was taxes and registration fees and I think $40 for a notary fee. I went back and forth on 5x12 vs 6x12 as the 6 was only $200 more, but for what I do and where I pull it, the 5 will be easier to maneuver and fit anything I need. I have uncles with 16' dual axle trailers that I can borrow anytime if need be for big stuff. They also went ahead and took the jack off the tongue for me and welded on a fold up jack on the side at no extra cost, like a boat trailer has. Seems the jacks on the center of the tongue are always bent from people not cranking them up all the way, so I just went with one that folds up so I won't have to worry about it. It's very well built trailer, world's above the crap at Lowe's and Home Depot. Should last a long time.
Thanks!
