Blues, don't link me bro.

I've seen him projected as a WLB in a 3-4 IF the team has a big nose tackle to protect him (which we do), but from looking at his size, speed and skill set, I think he projects as a good nickel linebacker.

Now, it may seem silly to draft a nickel guy in the first round, but keep in mind that teams are spending something like 60%-70% of snaps in sub packages. I think you saw a lot of 3-4 safety formations last year in part because of our lack of coverage linebackers. Lofton isn't coming off of the field, but if we were able to get a kid like Shazier, he could replace Hawthorne in sub packages. He can be an effective blitzer, and has 4.38 speed to cover a lot of ground if he drops back into coverage.

If by chance Shazier and Mosley are there at 27, I'd take Mosley, but I wouldn't be mad at the Shazier pick. Remember the two weaknesses of the defense last year were the outside runs in our sub packages and coverage in the middle of the field. He could help with both.

1st rounder from Ohio State. That should work out well.

Jazzy is on board.

I've been extremely high on his potential. Everything you can say negative about him is something that can be coached up, so as long as he takes the coaching I'd love to have him.

And yeah we spent about 75% of our snaps in "sub" packages.

maybe that is another reason teams are running the ball so well on us too. The Saints did a lot better last year against the run than they did in 2012 but still.. that was one area where teams still were able to beat us the most it seemed like.

I think some of it is because we don't have a lot of speed at the LB position?

the pass defense was pretty damn good and while having a coverage LB would be nice and all... I want a LB that can be a sideline-to-sideline guy that makes a ton of tackles and who is relentless.

maybe Shazier could do that. I don't know. Never really saw him play much until people started posting some links on him on this board.

I would love it. He's a tremendously talented freak who compares to Lavonte David. Regardless of scheme, Ryan could and would find a place for him if they think he's the right pick. I'm all in favor of going BPA in the first.

I can't think of a ton of picks I'd be upset with. At 27, I just hope they take whoever they feel is the BPA between OL, WR, LB, or DB

Hey Paddy Cakes. I don't think there is much of a chance Blues links this thread.
Blues from what I can tell, paddy and Chaddy don't like you.
You are one of the more informative posters on here. Don't change a thing because of what Paddy says, please.
