One day while I was walking to class I get a phonecall from a fairly illiterate gentleman looking for the manger of the 459 and assuming I was him. He shares the same name as me but for the sake of the story we'll say his name is Mr. John.

So this guy starts telling me this story about how he was riding his bike home from work one night where two cops stopped him and accused him of being drunk. He claimed that he wasn't drunk just that he has a speech impediment (take that however you want). At one point one of the cops tripped and over this guy's bike and became super embarrassed. He claimed the cop got up and told him that he will never work another day on LSU campus ever again and if he tries, he will be arrested for trespassing. The next day he gets a call from his boss saying he is fired, his paycheck will be mailed, and to not come back to campus.

So after he tells me this story I tell him that he has the wrong number. Then he goes on to tell me that another employee at the 459 gave him MY number saying that it was Mr. John's. Since my name is also John I was pretty weirded out considering I am not from Louisiana so my area code is different. I have no idea how any of them got my number.

So after that this guy kept calling me asking me to go up there and plead to the manager for his job back. Put me in a really weird position but no way was I going to drag myself into this situation so I stopped answering and finally he stopped calling.

I know I know tl;dr csb blah blah blah. But I thought this was an interesting story worthy of the OT's examination and destructive criticism.

You should've played along like you were the manager...

Well I kinda felt bad for the guy that he had just lost his job because of a corrupt LSUPD cop. I mean their staff isn't exactly high skilled workers for a job probably isn't easy to come by.

Because his real name is the same as mine and I wasn't about to use my real name on the OT.

Should've called the 459 and told Mr John who you were and that the guy is working there from now on. Then hung up the phone like a boss

Somebody knew manager's name and looked it up, got your number and gave it to this guy.

Not sure why the cop would try to ruin the guy's life after tripping over his bike. There's more to the story.

But these things dont just happen... it's your destiny to get to the bottom of this and save the guy's career and get that rogue cop what he deserves. Dont forget to report back to the OT.

Should've told him it was a big mix up and that you expect him at work Monday morning.

I can't say that this wrong number call situation is worthy of being called a "bizarre story." However, since I am not sure when this happened or if you are still in school, I would just point out that as you get older, you will come to learn that there is usually always more to the story.

A simple "wrong number, buddy" should have been the end of it, unless it was your friends pulling a prank on you, in which case they would have delighted in your discomfort as they escalated the calls to you.

It wasn't a prank by a friend. I knew who the employee was just from eating there several times. I do think it's odd that an employee gave him my number given that I don't know any of the employees.

I do know for a fact that me and the manager have the same name. I just don't get how any of them got my number. It definitely wasn't a misdial

I would not be surprised by any ridiculous actions of those corrupt illiterate hicks that call themselves police officers. BRPD/LSUPD is a joke of a department
