Trying to stop drinking so much

Caffeine. Is there an easy way to take this on? Currently I drink 6-8 cups of coffee/diet coke (and 1-2 beers) a day. Nothing else. I have been doing this for almost a year. Why? I have two small kiddos under 4 and I take good care of my husband. Needless to say I work hard.
Anyway, I have come to the realization that I don't drink nearly enough water and drink way too much caffeine. I'm not giving up my beer because nothing is wrong with a nice cold beer or 4.
Is there an easy way to stop? I'm trying to just drink 1 cup of coffee in the am and then water the rest of the day.

No.
First realize that any change will be hard. if it's easy, it won't work or last.
It will take will power. Suck it up buttercup and start taking better care of yourself and stop making excuses of why you can't.

i did this a couple of year ago. key things for me were basically finding decaffeinated coffee that i like, and starting drinking decaffeinated teas. sitting at my desk all day, water doesn't cut it. but i found that i like la madelines decaf coffee, and a few kinds of decaf teas. might be worth buying a kettle if you start with the teas and you don't have a quick source of boiling water (i have a hot water tap on the coffee machine at work).

I recently made some changes to my fluid intake (no beer Mon-Thurs).
I drink a lot more water, and I've noticed these things help A LOT if plain water doesn't seem appealing. They don't stimulate the appetite like diet soda's do and some of them taste just like juice. Minute Maid makes some good squeeze flavors as well..

I used to drink a lot of Diet Mountain Dew. I would have two cans right when I woke up, another around 10:30, and two more around 3 in the afternoon.
I cut back to just one can first thing in the morning, but I am constantly sipping on water throughout the day (at least 1.5 gallons a day). I found that drinking water steadily through the day helped overcome my "need" for Mt Dew, and I feel a ton better.
Now if only I can find a way to wean off my expensive scotch habit!

I substituted my craving for caffeine with a couple bumps of cocaine a day and now I'm dating a stripper and my family resents me. But you know what? I haven't had a cup of coffee in months.
No regrets.

Giving yourself only the option of water for a week or two will shake the habit. Ultimately you will feel much better. Don't add any powders or squeeze flavors either, just artificial sugar you don't need. If your water is boring add sliced strawberries, sliced lemon, cucumber or mint leaves to give it a little flavor.

Try drinking "free range water", it's good enough for Gwyneth.
Seriously though I drink waaay to much diet coke, try to cut back and do sometimes but doesn't last long, I have a serious addiction to that shite.

Why bother? Drink all the coffee you want, the consensus these days is that caffeine is basically harmless. So long as it is black coffee - if you take cream and sugar you will be a fatass in no time.

Best of luck. I quit heroin, nicotine, and caffeine in the same year and caffeine was almost as hard as the others.

Maybe start by getting rid of soda first. Replace those with water. Still drink coffee but limit to a couple cups a day.
I still drink coffee but no longer drink diet sodas. I feel soooo much better once I quit drinking soda(and I've noticed I've had better dental checkups ever since as well). Also maybe start drinking tea/green tea. Instead of a ton of creamers and sugar in your coffee just use minimal creamer and stevia for sweetner.
I bought a water infusion bottle to get me to drink more water. Basically you can put fruit or herbs(ex: mint) at the bottom and put the water on top and it flavors the water(but doesn't mix in the water and get clogged up in the straw). My favorite is just plain mint leaves or raspberries in it. Gives the water some flavor.

Drink one cup of coffee in the AM to relax, water during the day, Coke at lunch, more water, and then milk at night.
