My wife and I pull around $90,000 cash, all non-taxable, as full-time students. That doesn't include tuition, books, school supplies, and one new computer a year. All reimbursed(and always at a rate well above what we actually spent). This is through a combination of disability, retirement pension, a couple VA programs, and the GI Bill.

Not looking to make a point, or 'play gotcha'. Just wondering what the average taxpayer thinks. That's quite a bit of money.

How old are you?? What kind of disability?>

See nothing wrong with a disabled retired vet getting what is due him.

thanks for you service

Honestly, I really don't know... I don't know the worth of anyone anymore... you may be worth twice that or half that... and unfortunately no matter how much research I do or can possibly do without dedicating my life to it I will I ever know...

I can tell you this though... do you feel like you are getting more than you deserve? Really look at what everyone else that is poor is doing to survive... if you feel you are getting more than you deserve then you probably are....

I thank you for your service to our country though.. I'd rather people that gave up 1/4 of their physical ability be provided with 1/4 of my income.

If that was the deal, that was the deal. Good for you.

It always boggles my mind how peoople suggest you're somehow "undeserving" in a situation like this. They had the same chances to sign up as you.

So BOTH of you are on SSDI and early retirement?
WTF? And BOTH are on the GI bill?

What % is from each if that is the case?

Were you injured in combat service?

My household pays a lot of taxes annually. I don't mind my $$$ going to injured vets. Not one bit.

Thank you for your service.

Obviously don't know anyone's specific situation. At least you're trying to be honest with yourself. I would never give back or refuse the money if I felt I was undeserving. I would just use it to help others. I think you have a better chance at putting that money to use in a positive way for veterans than the government does. If it went back to them, there's a chance it would go to an even "less" deserving person. Use it how you see fit, even if that is on yourself, sounds like you have a good conscience .

So do you work for that 90k, or are you getting 90k through pensions, disability, etc...

Also, does your disability prevent you from being able to work? Is your wife also disabled? A lot of questions are out there in order to form an honest opinion.

It's really not about the morality, NS...or even "what the average taxpayer thinks". It's more about SUSTAINIBILITY, and the truth of Numbers, and the inevitable collapse/reboot ("fundamental transformation") of the current economic system.

Enjoy it while it last. You can book that the collapse/'reboot' won't be nearly as easy or generous.

Thanks. Be well.

I have no problem with my money going to any vet in this country. I didnt make that sacrifice for other Americans children and have no problem supporting those that did for my children.

THe avereage taxpayer thinks the 47% are leeches because Mitt says so.

The average taxpayer also has had some point in their adult lives when then were IN the 47% - but that's not relevant. All that matter is those leaches!

As I see it, the real problem is the OP's Bama affiliation.

Thanks for your service, Bro.

As for the benefits, I worked while I was in college (sometimes 3 jobs at once) but I wouldn't have been able to get through without the G.I. Bill. I guess I just got lucky through OIF.

Either way, I'd rather my money go to you than crack heads who will just blow my hard earned cash on more crack.
