Just wanted to bump this thread up. The first Alpha module to contain any game play, the "Arena Commander" has been released. It's basically a game within the Star Citizen game, but it pretty much how the flying and dog fighting will play out. There's still a lot left to do, but for an early Alpha it's remarkably stable (though of course, very few people are in the multi-player pool at this point, so once that ramps up we'll see how stable it stays).

There are some issues with the flight model, but once you get used to it it's not so bad. It definitely needs some refinements and iterations, and you can't re-bind any controls at this point so that's also slightly annoying, but the core of the system is pretty legit. The damage states are really cool and will make for some interesting emergent gameplay. When you get your main propulsion blown out and can only maneuver on thrusters or your main weapons get knocked out, it drastically changes how you approach a situation.

Looks cool, though I wonder how much pay-to-win is going to be incorporated into the game.

Cryengine 3 though.
