The 2012/13 Vizio E series was horrid. I literally replaced 30 in about 20 days. That was just my crew, we had 5 crews going out everyday in the Birmingham area. Their screens blacked out after about a month. They have fixed them, but Samsung has never had a major problem like that.

I have samsungs in the bedrooms and like them alot. Picture on my Vizio in the Living room has formed 2 thin black lines vertically down the screen. Barely noticeable but once you see it it's all i can focus on. Really hard to beat a Samsung.

I wouldn't call it horrid, but the newer Vizio M series is much much better than the E series. I'd go with the Samsung unless you go with the newer Vizio M series.

I only own Samsungs, and I've been very impressed and happy with 2 out of the 3 I own. The only one I'm meh on is the LED one. I have an LCD, LED and a plasma. The plasma is by far the best performing one, but it suffers in bright light.

I just ordered a 55" Vizio from Sam's for $600 for my back patio. I am a Samsung man through and through but I couldn't pass up the deal on that Vizio. Plus its for the back patio anyways.

No love for Sony? I have a 55" Sony LED in my living room and a 42" Samsung in my bedroom, and I prefer the Sony by a pretty decent margin.

I have a buddy that says his parents Sony looks pretty good, but I don't think I've ever seen one outside of the store.

anyone telling you they are offered a choice of either as a gift and they are taking the vizio is a liar.
that said, there are plenty of times where the vizio may end up being a better value due to price difference.
