That's what I'm saying, that waste of resources is worth maany many times more than the drink. And that cost comes out of our pockets...

What in the bloody hell is wrong with paying after getting the refill as opposed to before?

Is he paying for all the other ones he stole before as well?

What if he paid for it before and then they were out of what he wanted? I bet they wouldn't be very cooperative in refunding his $

And you base this off of what exactly?

I don't disagree with any of that.

Oh...and while I'm near the subject...if places like Lowes or Home Depot are going to basically FORCE me to scan my own shite at the check out, I am going to start expecting an automatic 5% discount on my total. I don't work there, assholes! What next...I need to report there at 2AM to unload the truck from the home office?

Ok...rant over...

They wouldn't let him pay for the one that he got caught "stealing". What makes you think they'll let him pay for the others? Unless, there's other details of the story that have been left out of the article, then this is complete BS. I bet you those cafeteria workers have no issues when they want something to drink. You think they pay for that shite?

So the guy technically stole something, and we are supposed to feel bad?

The guy was arrested for refilling a drink from a fountain machine.

C'mon.

Does it occur to you that he really did not see the signs posted? He offered to pay for his refill and also admitted to other "thefts". Seems like he was the only one acting reasonable here

You kind of missed the point. Has he offered to pay for all the other times he stole?

Not sure what that has to do with refunding money, but OK.

You're using common sense to argue with this guy.

whats sad is you think its ok we've reached the point where a guy who get an ILLEGAL refill of his soda should pay a $500 fine.

you know in north korea, they just execute you by firing squad for stuff like this.

They should have just embarassed him and made him pay. The story/rumor mill flying through the building would have deterred a lot of future drink stealing.

Although the $525 fine is a serious deterrent.

Ignorance of law is an excuse to break the law. I guess Dave Chapelle was right. "I'm sorry officer, I didn't know I couldn't do that."
