The wife and I are living on 50K a year. I'm retired and the wife works two days a week. Everything is paid for, but the cost of all insurances is a killer. That is were most of our money goes to every month.

Hell I make 42k a year, have a house, etc and I'm able to do what I want as long as I'm not stupid with my money. I mean I take one week long vacation a year, a few weekend trips a year, and I go out and eat every other week.

Now I won't go out and buy a 60k car or truck because that's just stupid

Never heard that one before.

I don't believe you, because if this were true, you wouldn't have been forced to leave college with one semester left.

Smart fellow. That is what kills most young people. They just have to buy that big ticket item.

My daughter wanted to do that, but talked her out of it. She ended up buying a used Hummer at a great price. I'm talking about the big Hummer and it is a POS. But, she had to have it.

If you live in manhattan, maybe. But yeah, 55K is pretty damn good to start with

most my friends who moved to the nyc area made that or less starting off and got by just fine. Now that we're in are late 20's they are really enjoying the city life.

Well that isn't the only lie in this thread after reading the first 5 pages

Yea, it's pretty absurd. I don't make much money by any means, but I'm also a full time student and chose to take a current pay cut to pursue my graduate degree. I get by just fine and have a new car with a very reasonable note. Mainly because I was able to put half down when I signed the papers.

If you can't survive on 55k with no kids, you should just off yourself.

Is it really? I'm not doubting you, I'm truly curious. That seems insanely low for a four year degree. I thought it would have been closer to a 75-80k a year average.

WTF...is this serious?

This. God I love this place

I'm sure it's been said already, but I've seen people do OK on almost half that and I've seen people struggle with more than twice that. Lots of variables, but mainly it depends on the person.

Subtle brag thread turned into delusional idiot thread over night.

I'd worry about not being alone more than how much money I made. Finding happiness is much tougher than making money.

Literally, the only way this narrative makes sense is, if he was incarcerated. But, even then, I can't fit him doing time into his supposed timeline here.

It depends on your rent, car note, and scool loan. Thats what I made at my first job. Expect $700-750 per week after taxes.

Could have been drugs/rehab

Or a mental institution.

Either way, this dude is either lying or leaving out some important details.

Geez, the pirate guy in here needs to just die. So stupid and full of shite. I'd really like to know how much he actually makes and spends. You'd have to be a retard to think 55 is not enough for a young guy.

Someone should find the thread where half the people were insisting that the average McDonalds manager of one location makes $85-100k easily.

Graduating next month, and will be making around 55,000 starting right out of school.
Right out of school and single? Hell yes you should be able to live comfortably.

If this is a single guy coming out of school making 55k how is this thread this long? One of the easiest answers ever. I lived comfortably on 45k out of school.

Exactly.

I work full time with overtime, have a full time school schedule and hold a high gpa, and there is literally nothing else for me to do. I have no time to get caught up in other things, much less things that could force me to leave school with 1 semester left.

I went to my parents 60 miles away this past weekend as a vacation for 2 nights. It was glorious.
