I played Redstone and Wildcat last fall and have played Tour 18 a few times. Unless you're looking for the novelty of playing famous holes, I would avoid Tour 18. The course has never been in good condition when we've played it.

Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of Wildcat either. It could have been because we were hungover and had to wait every shot, but I was still expecting more. Quite a bit of elevation change if I remember correctly. I believe it was built on top of an old dump site.

Redstone was in fantastic shape and I think it cost us around $150. Maybe I'm hard to please, but I expected more for the money. Nothing wrong w/ the course though.

I'd play eagle pointe in month belvieu again before I'd spend another $150 on Redstone.

I am a big fan of Black Horse. Both courses are nice and I think its got some of the best landscape.

At $100, its a great value

Just get a tee time at memorial if you can, best muni in town.

If you feel like driving redstone will be your best bet for a well conditioned course, I like the members course better than the tournament course though.

I have played both courses at Wildcat several times in scrambles and IMHO it is a goat ranch. Tour 18 is fun and given your low caps, several holes can be quite challenging playing from the back tees. As per previous comments the course is not always in very good shape and the people that run the course are assholes. I have played every course at Kingwood except the members only course and would recommend any of the three, plus they have a great practice facility. Per other comments, Redstone is a great choice also.

I am involved with several golf courses here and if someone is willing to help I think we could put an outing together. My home course is Pine Forest and we could play there with a smaller group. If we had a large crowd I could work something out at a great course in the area, there are plenty of them.
If interested let me know.

I play Wildcat 20+ times a year. Never had an issue with a 5+ hour round. It's a hard course to traverse but never that slow. Usually very solid greens.

Tour 18 is worth playing if you've never done it. It'd be a memory for sure.

You can get on GolfNow or other apps and book rounds all over the city at discounted rates. A threesome looking to spend $660 will buy you a lot of the golf courses in Houston.

Wildcat golf club. close to Reliant, and used by the Texans and other professional teams.

my 2 cents on Wildcat----if you are going to play only 1 round there, i would select some other place----the elevation changes mean too many blind shots and groups in front and in back of you will interfere with your play as there are enough holes next to each other that errant shots end up in the adjacent fairway. other courses will not have these issues so you decide what's important for your golfing pleasure. overall, I give Wildcat a thumbs up, but I know when I have played this course, I ran into these issues

I love how they say Wildcat is the preferred course of Houston's professional sports teams when they don't have one sponsorship deal with a team. They used to have all the teams but all the teams dropped them for better courses. Some of the players may play there but they also play other courses in Houston. Seems a little misleading. They would have the team's logos all over their website it they really where the preferred course.

Edit: They may have the Dynamo last I remember.

Any of the courses listed in this thread will give you a good challenge and will be an enjoyable round. I no longer live in Houston, and when I come to town, I play Eagle Pointe or Wildcat. They are such great courses. There will always be someone to disagree (see goat ranch guy above), but play there and make your own decision.

I've got my options narrowed down to meadowbrook farms, Augusta pines and eagle pointe. Any suggestions out of those three?
