Then what about the free unlimited meals that NCAA is proposing as well.

Your tax dollars don't pay athletes. They never will. Also, a significant portion of tax money (particularly in LA) is spent on keeping marijuana offenders locked up.
If marijuana is decriminalized/legalized, it should be removed from the NCAA's banned substances list entirely.

it's not just this generation. I think you'd be amazed at how many people in their 30s and 40s have no problem with marijuana and those that still smoke it. It's not a generational thing, it's just a common sense thing. Weed just isn't as bad as people wanted you to believe it was years ago.

Just turn on the television at any time during the day. Hell, prime time television is practically like watching soft porn. Every year, more and more curse words are deemed allowable on cable networks. The "n" word is thrown around by all races and actually is being fought for to be a socially acceptable word. Recreational drugs are viewed by many as "not a big deal". All of these are prime examples of, "people are going to continue to break the rules, so we might as well just accept it."

Put it this way, I have two young children. I can almost guarantee that the things I worry about my kids experiencing when they get older are not nearly the same concerns as my father had for me.

I don't expect you or anyone to agree with me. Hell, maybe I'm just too old fashioned.

God forbid you have to actually talk to your kids and do some parenting.

So the fact that crime is at an long-time low and violent crime is at an long-time low mean nothing?

The late 80's and 90's were incredibly violent

So I'd say your worries as a farther are a lot less serious than those of the past

I'm well aware that people of all ages smoke and I also agree that it's not nearly as bad as many want you to believe. I know people who have smoked on a recreational basis for years and lead productive lives. I also know some who have lost their family because they let it consume their life. But the same can be said for alcohol or prescription drugs.

My whole disappointment with this is simply that we continue to expand our boundaries of what is and is not acceptable and pretty soon not much will be seen as unacceptable.

lost their family because of smoking pot? If that's the case, their problems were much deeper than smoking weed.

that's been happening since the beginning of civilization. however, the second part of that statement contradicts the first, just saying

I'm not going to further hijack this thread. I have my opinion and you have yours. But how can you make this statement based off what I just said?

The fact that I worry about how my children will turn out means I don't talk to them? I may have what you see as misguided views or a Pleasantville mentality, but that's a pretty asinine thing to say based off the words I typed.

So you are against the NCAA not ruining kids career for doing something that isn't as bad as we thought it was when we originally introduced the drug rules?

But your opinions are based off the perception created from 24 news coverage rather than what is actually happening
