I don't think that's the case at all.
What irks everyone is when someone admits that they are a reader, and still posts in the damn thread.
It's just completely unnecessary and a complete detriment to the thread even if it's done with the best intentions.

The funny thing is in the first season people who were readers and non-readers posted in the same thread (gasp) and it worked out pretty well. There seemed to be a pretty genuine understanding of not posting anything spoilery for the non-readers, but if they asked questions up to the point of the show (like in the Middle Ground Thread) you helped out.
I'm honestly not sure at what point it turned into such a shite slinging show. But it's rich when you have some non-readers call readers elitist assholes when you see some of the things they post (even in this very thread).

The way things are framed can be spoilery. By clarifying things, it gives them added importance just like the "previously on game of thrones" gives away a lot when they bring in characters from long ago, ala the fool.

I get tired of being lumped in with the bad readers. Sure there are a few readers who are extremists, but the majority of us are peaceful and non-spoilery. When will the rampant readerophobia cease?
